    "description": "<p><span>The International University of Science &amp; Technology in Kuwait (IUK) is a newly established private university in Kuwait</span><span>, with a new campus located in the heart of Kuwait near the Avenues Mall</span><span>. </span><span>Fully accredited by the </span><span>Private Universities Council (PUC)</span><span>, the </span><span>University</span><span> offers a wide </span><span>range of academic programs in Engineering, Business, and Arts and Social Sciences. </span><span>In addition to the academic programs, the IUK has established the Univer</span><span>si</span><span>ty Foundation Program (UFP) that offers English and Math foundation programs. </span><span>The </span><span>IUK is looking for dynamic full-time </span><span>i</span><span>nstructor</span><span>s</span><span> </span><span>who are passionate about </span><span>teaching, contributing to developing a vibrant and successful learning environment with students.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Position Summary</span></p>\n<p><span>The Dep</span><span>artment of </span><span>Humanities and Fine Arts </span><span>in the College of Arts </span><span>at the </span><span>IUK</span><span> seeks candidates for <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Assistant</span></span><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">/Associate</span><span><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"> Professor</span> and <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Instructor </span>positions to te</span><span>ach courses in </span><span>areas related to </span><span>human </span><span>creativity,</span><span> including visual arts,</span><span> theatre</span><span>, music, film, </span><span>culture</span><span>, philosophy, </span><span>and history</span><span>. The </span><span>faculty members </span><span>will teach</span><span> introductory-level courses in </span><span>humanities and fine arts</span><span>, as well as upper-level undergraduate courses in the area of specialization and related fields. In addition to tea</span><span>ching</span><span>, </span><span>successful candidate</span><span>s</span><span> </span><span>are expected to maintain significant </span><span>scholarly work and </span><span>profes</span><span>sional services</span><span>.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span>The primary role of the </span><span>faculty members a</span><span>t the IUK is to promote high-quality teaching</span><span>, research, and services</span><span>. Besides, he/she should collaborate with the </span><span>Head of Department, College's Dean, </span><span>and the colleagues to achieve the </span><span>department's and </span><span>College's mission, mentor junior colleagues, and teaching assistants, and support the </span><span>department a</span><span>nd the University with several administrative and academic services.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span>The </span><span>teaching load is 12-15 </span><span>credits</span><span>/contact hours per week</span><span>. In addition to classes, the </span><span>faculty members</span><span> </span><span>are </span><span>expected to </span><span>maintain office hours, p</span><span>rovide advisement for students and </span><span>participate in curriculum development</span><span>, </span><span>and </span><span>contribute to the university </span><span>professional devel</span><span>opment activities.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Responsibilities</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span>Teach </span><span>different </span><span>History, Humanities and fine arts </span><span>courses</span><span> according to his/her specialty </span><span>and </span><span>experience.</span><span>­</span></li>\n<li><span>Promote</span><span> innovation in teaching by introducing new teaching methodologies and strategies. </span><span>­ </span><span>Engage</span><span> with students in and out of the classroom.</span><span>­</span></li>\n<li><span>Mentor</span><span> new colleagues and teaching assistants </span><span>­ </span></li>\n<li><span>Support</span><span> the mission of the </span><span>Department and Collegiate</span><span> the IUK by following the set curriculum and working towards achieving the program objectives and student learning outcomes. </span><span>­</span></li>\n<li><span>Follow</span><span> the university bylaws and regulations </span><span>and promote the institutional environment.</span><span>­ </span></li>\n<li><span>Commit </span><span>to teaching Schedules, Office Hours, Preparation, Service, and Professional Development</span><span>.</span><span>­</span></li>\n<li><span>Provide </span><span>academic support to other colleagues in the department.</span><span>­</span></li>\n<li><span>Participate</span><span> in the </span><span>College's and the U</span><span>niversity</span><span>'s </span><span>events and supporting collegiality. </span><span>­</span></li>\n<li><span>Support</span><span> the </span><span>College</span><span> and the </span><span>U</span><span>niversity in organizing seminars, international conferences, and faculty events.</span><span>­</span></li>\n<li><span>Serve </span><span>in </span><span>the College's</span><span> and university</span><span>'s</span><span> committees as needed.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Qualifications</span></p>\n<p><span>A </span><span><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Ph.D.</span> or <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Master's</span> degree</span><span> </span><span>in </span><span>one</span><span> of the following domains:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span>Fine Arts</span><span>­</span></li>\n<li><span>History</span><span>­</span></li>\n<li><span>Philosophy</span><br></li>\n<li><span>Islamic Culture </span></li>\n<li><span>Arabic Language</span></li>\n<li><span>Law</span><br></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span><br><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Experience</span></span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span>A minimum </span><span>of </span><span>three</span><span> years of</span><span> teaching experience </span><span>at a university/college level</span><span>.</span></li>\n<li><span>A proven</span><span> experience in using different learning management systems and in adopting e-learning teaching strategies.</span></li>\n<li><span>An e</span><span>xperience that proves</span><span> an understanding of a </span><span>multicultural academic</span><span> environment, and understanding of </span><span>students</span><span>'</span><span> needs</span><span>,</span><span> including those of special needs.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Technical Skills</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span>Excellent writing and interpersonal skills.</span></li>\n<li><span>General computer and LMS skills.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span> <br></span><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Behavioral Skills</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span>Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills</span><span>.</span></li>\n<li><span>Strong oral and written communication skills.</span></li>\n<li><span>People and time management skills.</span></li>\n<li><span>A passion for teaching.</span></li>\n</ul>",
