The faculty position is appointed by the Dean of Health Sciences and holds the office subject to reappointment.&nbsp;&nbsp;</span></p>\n<p><span><strong><u>QUALIFICATIONS:</u></strong></span></p>\n<p><span>Must be a graduate of an approved Associate Degree Program and have/or obtain Surgical Technology Certification within 2 years of appointment.&nbsp; Must have legal active status to practice in the state of Mississippi and must:</span></p>\n<ul>\n <li><span>Hold a minimum of an Associate Degree</span></li>\n <li><span>Have five years clinical experience working as a Surgical Technologist or Surgical room experience; or three years of experience as faculty in a surgical technology program</span></li>\n <li><span>Satisfy clinical agency requirements (if responsibilities include direct clinical supervision of students”, i.e., background checks, immunizations, CPR, etc.&nbsp;</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span>&nbsp;</span></p>\n<p><span><strong><u>JOB SUMMARY:</u></strong></span></p>\n<p><span>The Surgical Technology Faculty member will provide instructional education through didactic and clinical modalities and support the administrative and supportive needs of NWCC and the surgical technology program.&nbsp;</span></p>\n<p><span><strong><u>Duties and Responsibilities:</u></strong></span></p>\n<ul>\n <li><span>Assist the clinical instructor(s) in making rounds to check student progress in the clinical setting.&nbsp; This may include visiting multiple sites per day.&nbsp;</span></li>\n <li><span>Assist the laboratory instructor(s) in teaching skills, monitoring students practice said skills, as well as assist in evaluating and scoring student skills checkoffs.</span></li>\n <li><span>Assist in acquiring new clinical sites for the program</span></li>\n <li><span>Assist in the organization and preparation of student admission paperwork&nbsp;</span></li>\n <li><span>Assist in program events such as performing background checks, orientation, etc.</span></li>\n <li><span>Potentially act as a substitute instructor for classroom instruction if the main instructor should be absent for any reason</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span><strong>Approximate hours* per week for this position:</strong></span></p>\n<p><span><strong>*These are subject to fluctuate depending on the semester, as some semesters have more or less time spent in any of the settings listed above</strong></span></p>\n<ul>\n <li><span>20-30</span><span>&nbsp;</span><span>hours per week&nbsp;</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n<p><span><strong>REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:</strong></span></p>\n<ul>\n <li><span>Ability to take initiative to solve problems.&nbsp;</span></li>\n <li><span>Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.&nbsp;</span></li>\n <li><span>Experience using technology including email, word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation software, and Internet use.&nbsp;</span></li>\n <li><span>Strong interpersonal skills to interact tactfully and courteously with students, faculty, staff, and the general public.&nbsp;</span></li>\n <li><span>Ability to collaborate with others and work as part of a team.&nbsp;</span></li>\n <li><span>Must be a “quick study” to quickly grasp and retain knowledge of policies and procedures relating to every aspect of student services that a prospective or current student may utilize.&nbsp;</span></li>\n <li><span>Demonstrate oral and written communication skills to interact with a wide range of diverse individuals.&nbsp;</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span><strong>PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:</strong></span></p>\n<p><span>While performing the duties of this job, the&nbsp;Surgical Technology Instructor regularly required to do the following:</span></p>\n<ul>\n <li><span>Stand for long periods&nbsp;</span></li>\n <li><span>Talk, hear, view,&nbsp;and assist students&nbsp;</span></li>\n <li><span>Communicate with others in person, telephone, zoom, &amp; live chat</span></li>\n <li><span>Sit, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms</span></li>\n <li><span>Stand, walk, stoop, or kneel</span></li>\n <li><span>Occasionally lift and/or move items of at least 15-20 pounds</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span>&nbsp;</span></p>\n<p><span><strong>APPLICATION:</strong></span></p>\n<p><span>To apply, please attach and submit the following:</span></p>\n<ul>\n <li><span>Application at&nbsp;</span><a href=\"http://www.northwestms.edu/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\"><span>www.northwestms.edu</span></a></li>\n <li><span>Resume</span></li>\n <li><span>Transcripts</span></li>\n <li><span>Provide two (2) letters of recommendation</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>",
