ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY
Summer Part-time - 25 hour per week - $12.00 hourly
This position is responsible for:
Greets children and parents upon arrival to the camp; leads and/or participates in leading children’s activities at the day camp including music, arts and crafts activities, sports activities and specialized programs; prepares and serves children lunch and snacks; assists in leading field trips; maintains the cleanliness of the day camp area.
Key Responsibilities:
Provides constant care for the needs of the children in an efficient, clean, loving, safe, secure, and healthy manner.
Leads music, worship, crafts and sporting activities which are age-group program specific; utilizes age-group appropriate discovery areas, enriched with program-specific activities, including teacher-made materials and hands-on activities to ensure intended messages and program plans are delivered.
Determines appropriate supplies and materials for lesson plans and recreational activities; ensures the children's safety in utilizing the same.
Provides opportunities for physical and mental stimulation through both inside and outside activities.
Prepares and maintains up-to-date records and required reports (attendance, development progress, discipline reports, etc.); prepares copies, faxes, scans, etc. as needed.
Ensures the accountability, security and safety of children participating in camp activities and field trips; reports all accidents to the supervisor in an accurate and timely manner.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Ability to meet attendance requirements.
Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
Ability to observe children and ensure their safety.
Duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis.
Work is performed in a normal camp environment where there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR IN YOU
High school diploma or G.E.D. required,
and
two years’ experience teaching child development programs,
or
any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Licenses and Certifications:
Valid state driver's license
C.P.R. and First Aid Certification
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of the principles and practices of Child Behavior and Development.
Knowledge of the principles and practices of First Aid and C.P.R and ability to ensure the safety of children.
Ability to build effective and positive relationships and implement effective childhood programs and activities.
