This includes coordinating and promoting services to the cities in the county, driving vehicle to designated event site, canvassaing neighborhoods for scheduling of services, along with veterinary technician work on the mobile clinic.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong><u>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS</u></strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Two (2) years’ experience as a Vet Assistant or Vet Tech, or other closely related field, OR an equivalent combination of related education and experience.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>OR</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Associates degree from an accredited college or university in Animal Science, Veterinary Technology, or other closely related field, plus one (1) year of related experience; OR an equivalent combination of related education and experience.  Along with, Veterinary Technology certification through the State of Utah, or certification must be obtained within six (6) months of hire. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>A valid Driver’s License recognized by the State of Utah is required to operate a Salt Lake County vehicle at the time of hire. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Must receive a verified negative test result on a mandatory drug test before starting in this position. Will be subject to random alcohol and drug testing. May be subject to post-accident and reasonable suspicion alcohol and drug testing.</strong></p>\n<p><strong>Due to the nature of this position, the successful applicant must pass a required background check through fingerprinting and enrollment in the continuous RAP Back (Record of Arrest and Prosecution Back) program by current County Human Resources policy</strong><strong>requirements.</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong><u>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS</u></strong><strong>  </strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Effectively communicate the importance of spay/neuter and vaccination to the community.</li>\n <li>Scheduling of an appropriate number and size of animals able to be seen on the mobile unit.</li>\n <li>Safe handling and administration of vaccines, injectable medications, and sharps disposal.</li>\n <li>Restrains animals for exam and assists in advanced treatments and diagnostics.</li>\n <li>Ensures clinic areas, equipment, and supplies are cleaned, re-stocked, and maintained appropriately.</li>\n <li>Perform exam, advanced treatments, and diagnostics with direct supervision of a veterinarian.</li>\n <li>Surgical instrument care, preparation, and sterilization of surgical packs. Daily disinfection and maintenance of the surgical suite, equipment, and supplies.</li>\n <li>Administration of anesthetic medication by inhalation/intubation or intravenous injection, assists the veterinarian during surgery as needed. Surgical preparations and positioning of patient.</li>\n <li>Monitors animals during and after surgical procedures and provides appropriate nursing care to ensure animals are kept comfortable to optimize recovery.</li>\n <li>Responsible for handling and documenting of controlled substances and following all policies and procedures related to such.</li>\n <li>Calculates and documents medication dosages, including controlled substances. Assists Veterinary Clinic Supervisor in maintaining inventory and orders pharmaceutical and surgical supplies/equipment.</li>\n <li>Dispenses prescribed medications and discharges animals to owners, providing at home care instructions.</li>\n <li>Maintaining medical records for individual animals, including associated charges for services.</li>\n <li>Maintains assigned vehicle and equipment. May arrange for repair and routine maintenance of vehicle and equipment.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>",
