We do this by addressing the root causes of crime through housing, education, employment programs and support so that individuals have alternatives to breaking the law. CJHS is committed to restorative justice and an organizational environment that recognizes the dignity and worth of each person. CJHS values diversity and inclusion and welcomes qualified applicants from all walks of life.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>CJHS is guided by a<span style=\"font-weight: bold\"> values-based, Carver governance model</span>, and benefits from a highly engaged, thoughtful, and collaborative Board of Directors that works closely with the Executive Director to provide strong governance and strategic oversight.<br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Areas of Focus </span></span></p>\n<p>CJHS is currently seeking new Board Directors with expertise and interest in one or more of the following areas:</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>   <span style=\"font-weight: bold\"> 1. Government Relations &amp; Public Policy</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">    2. Capital Development &amp; Facilities</span></p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>Construction and redevelopment projects</li>\n<li>Property management or real estate development</li>\n</ul>\n</li>\n</ol>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">     3. Financial Oversight &amp; Governance</span></p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>Accounting, audit, or financial risk oversight</li>\n<li>CPA designation strongly preferred</li>\n</ul>\n</li>\n</ol>\n<p> </p>\n<p>These skills will support the Board’s role in overseeing organizational growth, infrastructure, and financial sustainability as CJHS continues to expand its programs, facilities, and community impact.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">The Role</span></span></p>\n<p>Board Directors at CJHS provide strategic governance, not operational management. Directors work collaboratively to:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Uphold and advance the organization’s mission, vision, and values</li>\n<li>Govern by policy and ensure alignment with the organization’s Ends</li>\n<li>Provide oversight related to financial health, risk, and compliance</li>\n<li>Support long‑term planning, capital development, and organizational sustainability</li>\n<li>Act as ambassadors for CJHS within the community</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Board service may also include participation in ad-hoc board committees aligned with skills and interests, such as Finance, Governance, or special project committees.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Time Commitment</span></span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Approximately 8 board meetings per year (evenings)</li>\n<li>Committee participation as needed</li>\n<li>Preparation and review of board materials in advance of meetings</li>\n<li>Directors are appointed for an <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">initial three-year term</span>, with eligibility for additional terms in accordance with CJHS bylaws.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Qualifications &amp; Experience</span></span></p>\n<p>We welcome applications from individuals who bring:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Senior level professional experience in <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">government, finance, construction, real estate, or related fields</span></li>\n<li>Strong understanding of <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">financial oversight, risk management, or capital planning</span></li>\n<li>Experience working with or alongside boards, committees, or advisory bodies</li>\n<li>Ability to think strategically and contribute at a governance level</li>\n<li>Commitment to equity, inclusion, and values-driven leadership</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">CPA designation</span> or equivalent financial credentials are considered a strong asset for candidates interested in financial oversight roles.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Lived experience, community leadership, and non‑traditional career paths are valued.
