    "ExternalDescriptionStr": "<p><strong>Registered Nurse (RN -CN 1), Night Shift, Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) ONA</strong></p><p><strong>2 CCP- Surgical/Trauma Intensive Care Unit (SICU) – 34-bed unit</strong>&nbsp;</p><p>The Surgical/Trauma Intensive Care Unit is a 34-bed unit specializing in the complex care of adult patients requiring surgical interventions. The major specialties treated in this ICU are Trauma Surgery, Transplant Surgery, Acute Care Surgery, and Oncologic Surgery. As the region’s only adult Level 1 trauma center, the SICU is always ready to receive any critical trauma patient requiring resuscitation and specialized nursing care. We have a variety of solid organ transplant recipients, including liver, kidney-pancreas, and kidney transplants. We care for complex oncologic, hepatobiliary, and general surgery patients who are referred from across the country.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p><p>The majority of our patient population is in critical condition, with most patients generally stabilizing within 24-48 hours following admission.&nbsp; Patient care focuses on stabilizing cardio-pulmonary functioning, maintaining adequate circulatory volume and perfusion, preserving the patient’s protective mechanisms, and controlling pain. Our fast-paced SICU receives 5-8 admissions daily from the OR and ER. This requires a multidisciplinary team rounding process to ensure patients are ready to transition to the next phase of care on the surgical floors.
