The Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace Museum is seeking to hire a part-time (hourly) Museum Associate to work as a tour guide, program leader, and visitor assistant. By sharing the life-changing story of Girl Scouts at the birthplace of its Founder, Juliette Low, the dedicated staff of the Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace support the GSUSA mission to “build girls of courage, confidence, and character to make the world a better place.”</p>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p><strong>Primary duties of the position:</strong></p>\n<p>As a part-time Museum Tour Associate at the Birthplace, you will: </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Research and develop your own tour based on training and materials provided </li>\n <li>Lead visitors of diverse ages, backgrounds, and abilities in engaging museum tours</li>\n <li>Lead Girl Scout troops in hands-on activities based on training and materials provided</li>\n <li>Fill in as needed at the front desk or shop selling tickets and assisting visitors</li>\n <li>Show initiative in completing other daily tasks as needed such as program prep and development, historic research, and light cleaning and office duties</li>\n <li>Serve as an enthusiastic representative of Girl Scouting</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p>Accommodations will be made to enable qualified individuals to perform the essential functions.</p>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p><strong>Other Duties: </strong>Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>REQUIRED COMPETENCIES </strong></p>\n<p>You must have a background or demonstrated interest in public history or education, in working with the public and youth audiences, and in supporting the Girl Scout Movement. You have a demonstrated commitment to excellent customer service. With strong communication, interpersonal, and storytelling skills, you are excited about making history fun in an interactive museum environment. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>WORK ENVIRONMENT: This job operates in a professional museum environment. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>POSITION TYPE / EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK: This is a part-time position.</p>\n<p>Days and hours of work: weekend and weekday shifts are typically 3-7 hours long and range from 8:30 am - 7:30pm, and some holidays.
