Description
Overview
Seeking an experienced Automotive Interior Design Engineer with strong expertise in Instrument Panel development to support offshore automotive product development activities. The role involves styling feasibility evaluation, CAD conceptualization, 3D design development, packaging integration, and product engineering support for Instrument Panel systems within automotive vehicle development programs.
The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver design solutions meeting styling intent, manufacturing feasibility, quality expectations, and program timelines.
Responsibilities
Perform CAD conceptualization and 3D design development for Instrument Panel systems.
Conduct styling feasibility studies and translate styling surfaces into engineering feasible designs.
Develop Instrument Panel architecture considering packaging, assembly, manufacturing, and vehicle integration requirements.
Create and modify 3D CAD models and engineering data using CATIA within automotive product development environment.
Support concept development through production design release activities.
Work with cross-functional teams including CAE, packaging, manufacturing, validation, and program teams.
Participate in design reviews and ensure compliance with engineering standards and program requirements.
Support DFM/DFA considerations and manufacturing feasibility evaluations.
Interface with PLM systems for design data management, release process, and engineering documentation.
Support issue resolution during development, validation, and build phases.
Collaborate with global engineering stakeholders to achieve milestone deliverables.
Ensure adherence to quality, cost, weight, and timing targets throughout development cycle.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering / Automotive Engineering or related discipline.
Experience in Instrument Panel design and development within automotive programs.
Exposure to automotive OEM / Tier-1 product development environment preferred.
Experience supporting global automotive development programs preferred.
Essential skills
Automotive Instrument Panel design experience.
Strong CATIA V5 / CATIA V6 proficiency (Mandatory).
Styling feasibility study experience.
CAD conceptualization and 3D modeling expertise.
Product design and development experience in automotive interiors.
Knowledge of plastic component design fundamentals.
Packaging and vehicle integration understanding.
ENOVIA PLM experience.
Manufacturing feasibility understanding.
Automotive development lifecycle knowledge.
Cross-functional engineering collaboration experience.
Engineering drawing and release process understanding.
Desired skills
Interior trim systems exposure beyond Instrument Panel.
Knowledge of DFMEA / DVP&R activities.
