As the global leader in the semiconductor industry, Solidigm possesses many industry-leading SSD technologies including the most capable Quadruple Level Cell (QLC) NAND Flash products.</p><p>The Storage Pathfinding team in the Data Center Engineering (DCE) group of Solidigm is seeking a Senior Firmware (FW) engineer for the development of novel Solid State Drive (SSD) innovation prototypes to demonstrate high-impact features and functions. &#xa0;In this position, you will be doing independent problem-solving and innovative thinking to tackle complex technical challenges, where specific solutions to problems are often unknown.&#xa0; The work requires flexibility and comfort with ambiguity, while seeking to develop specific optimized approaches. Depending on candidate, scope of role could also include system-level design modeling, systems integration, algorithm modeling, benchmarking implementation, and/or digital signal processing. &#xa0;&#xa0;Experience in areas beyond storage could also be beneficial to this role such as AI, computing, and storage system architecture, operating systems, storage software architecture, networking, processing, accelerators, or memory.&#xa0;</p>",

          "text": "<p><strong>Key Responsibilities:</strong></p><ul><li>Develop embedded software for environments with constrained timing and memory resources, with a focus on prototyping proofs of concepts for new storage innovations.</li><li>Design and implement reusable code, debug and root-cause issues, and validate FW architecture and implementations.</li><li>Create novel approaches for firmware algorithms and mechanisms related to new drive features such as Flash Translation Layer (FTL)/mapping strategies, Garbage Collection/Workload optimization, Performance Quality of Service and data placement.&#xa0;</li><li>Perform unit and integration testing as needed to prove code viability and collaborate with architects and IP leads to define FW scope and implementation details aligned with delivery milestones.</li><li>Assist in creating appropriate metrics for evaluating new functions and collect data to inform next directions for FW architecture and implementation.</li><li>Provide analysis on tradeoffs between technical approaches to solving new problems and make recommendations based on collected data.</li></ul><p><strong>Minimum Requirements:</strong></p><p>7+ years of experience in the following areas:</p><ul><li>Software or firmware development, integration and validation experience in an embedded systems environment with programming in C/C++</li><li>Embedded firmware development running in a real-time operating system (RTOS), with hardware and software interactions</li><li>Firmware development environments including compilers, debuggers, emulators, and toolchains</li></ul><p><strong>Preferred Experience:</strong></p><ul><li>Proficiency in Python and Linux scripting for data parsing, automation, and processing.</li><li>Enterprise fabric and storage interface protocols (e.g., PCIe, NVMe, Enet, FC, IB)</li><li>Experience using source control and code review systems such as Git.</li><li>Ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment, plus able to jump into different technical areas for investigation and analysis.</li><li>Customer requirements definition, clarification, and technical assessment</li><li>Development of unit tests for code coverage and quality validation</li><li>Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document designs and communicate technical concepts effectively.</li><li>Project planning, estimation, and risk management</li><li>Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and collaborate with geographically distributed teams.</li></ul><p><strong>Academic Credentials</strong></p><p>BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.</p><p>&#xa0;</p>",
