JOB SUMMARY: Sets up and operates numerically controlled horizontal/vertical lathe/mill to perform machining operations (turning, boring, facing, threading) using castings, forgings and bar stock. Reads process sheets/work instructions and blueprints to determine machining to be performed. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: · Performs planning, lay out and set up procedures in machining of a variety of complex and difficult parts. · Uses ingenuity and good judgement in developing jigs, fixtures and other tooling necessary to complete job assignments. · Uses and cares for precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, height gages, dial indicators, calipers and scales. · Capable of operating lathe and mill machining without supervision. · Complete customer product requirements as associated with work order · Identify discrepancies in estimated setup and run times and resolve with Plant Supervisor. · Responsible for document and data control of programs, tool lists, and other related data with respect to job packets and M2M data. · Responsible for cleaning and performing general maintenance on equipment. · Responsible for stopping production if a part or process problem is identified and notifying leader or quality personnel · Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment. · May be required to guide or train other Machinist employees. · Participate in and support the Mistequay Quality System, Environmental, Health, and Safety, and company Quality policies and procedures. · Responsible only for own work. Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted in manufacturing. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
