Description

The Cato Institute seeks an organized, motivated, and detail-oriented Program Assistant/ Manager to join the Technology Policy team. The Technology Policy Program Manager or Assistant will support Cato’s growing technology policy team individually as well as the program as a whole. This person will play an important role as Cato prepares to launch its tech policy center. The role will be responsible for helping implement various plans for the growing team, coordinating internally, and, more generally, supporting Cato’s presence as a go-to source for technology policy. The individual in the role will serve as a liaison between tech policy scholars and Cato’s communications, events, development, government/external affairs, and other internal teams to ensure the program’s priorities are well coordinated, communicated, and effectively executed. The ideal candidate for this position has strong organizational skills, the ability to handle a variety of administrative tasks as well as strategic planning and execution, and an interest in technology policy and classical liberal ideas. This is a hybrid position in Washington, DC. The projected salary range for this role is $50,000 - $95,000 per year. Compensation is based on the successful candidate's educational background, experience, and skills. About Cato The Cato Institute is a public policy research organization—a think tank—dedicated to the principles of individual liberty, limited government, free markets, and peace. Its scholars and analysts conduct independent, nonpartisan research on a wide range of policy issues. Founded in 1977, Cato owes its name to Cato’s Letters , a series of essays published in 18th-century England that presented a vision of a society free from excessive government power. Those essays inspired the architects of the American Revolution. And the simple, timeless principles of that revolution — individual liberty, limited government, and free markets – turn out to be even more powerful in today’s world of global markets and unprecedented access to information than Jefferson or Madison could have imagined. Social and economic freedom is not just the best policy for a free people, it is the indispensable framework for the future. Cato Institute is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Responsibilities Work with team scholars to implement strategic plans and goals for the tech policy program Coordinate across internal teams on current and forthcoming technology policy goals, research, and events Develop and implement systems to allow further reach both internally and externally Support experts in preparation for events, meetings, and conferences Assist with the preparation of board reports, monthly reports, and expenses internally Provide administrative support for the team, including staffing events, preparing materials, assisting with recruiting efforts, and helping with the scheduling and administrative needs of program scholars Draft program notes and reports, and identify areas for improvement or notable successes for workflows and projects
