    "requisitionDescription": "<div><div><p id=\"isPasted\"><strong>We are seeking a highly qualified candidate for the position of Dredge Chief Mate who can meet the requirements. Please review the following requirements carefully before applying.&nbsp;</strong><strong>Only applicants with verifiable experience and qualifications should apply. <em>This position will require frequent travel and reliable transportation, this position is not for a live on dredge. Employees are provided with per diem to cover their own lodging expense.</em></strong></p><p><strong>Applicants must meet all the listed qualifications to be considered for the position. Those who cannot meet these requirements will not be considered. Candidates will be required to demonstrate their ability to meet and perform these requirements upon hire.</strong></p><p>The Chief Mate is responsible for directing mates as required; movement of the dredge swing anchors, making pipe ready for the dredge advance, preparing pipe for the channel crossing, ensuring proper lighting and signage is on pipeline, removing objects from the suction pipe, and cutter head, changing cables on the dredge to include (swing, spud, and ladder), directing dredge tender boats. They are also responsible for performing the duties prescribed by supervisory personnel. &nbsp;Communicates directives and orders from the Dredge Captain and Deck Captain to the mates.</p><p><strong>ADDITIONAL DETAILS BEFORE YOU PROCEED&nbsp;</strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li>Applications that do not provide sufficient dredge experience, detailed work history, job responsibilities, and accurate employment dates will be disqualified.</li><li>We do not provide transportation; this is the employee&#39;s responsibility. &nbsp;</li><li>You will be assigned to dredges based on the company&#39;s operational needs. We are unable to make accommodations based on an employee&#39;s home location. While we strive to accommodate requests when possible, we cannot guarantee such accommodations will be made.</li><li>This is not for a live-on dredge. &nbsp;We provide per diem, and employees are responsible for their lodging and meals.</li></ul><p><strong>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (THIS IS NOT ALL-INCLUSIVE)</strong></p><ul><li>Upholds the Company&rsquo;s commitment to an injury-free workplace; leads and models safe work practices&nbsp;</li><li>Follows all safety rules and regulations as well as all company policies and procedures&nbsp;</li><li>Works safely around machinery; observes and instructs others in proper equipment use; uses/wears all required PPE&nbsp;</li><li>Ensures team members are provided a safe work environment and are knowledgeable of safe work practices and policies Directly supervises the day-to-day engine room operations, crew operations, and maintenance on the dredge</li><li>Ensures the vessel meets all regulatory requirements and is properly prepared for agency inspections Inspects anchor barge before use and reports any deficiencies to the Chief Engineer; inspections will include engine, winches, sheaves, cables, decks, tackle, and deck compartments</li><li>Inspects the safety equipment on the anchor barges, reports findings to the engineer, and makes needed repairs or replacements</li><li>Works under the direction of the Captain and Deck Captain</li><li>Greases fittings on the anchor barge every day and the sheaves at least once per shift</li><li>Keeps anchor barge clean, keeps tools, hoses, extension cords, and trash picked up and in proper place</li><li>Assists outside crew as directed with repairs and maintenance</li></ul><p>&nbsp;<strong>MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS&nbsp;</strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li>High School degree or equivalent</li><li>Two or more years of experience as Chief Mate</li><li>Excellent safety and mechanical skills</li></ul><ul><li>Ability to assume responsibility, interface, and communicate effectively with others</li></ul><ul type=\"disc\"><li>Ability to meet physical requirements of the position as outlined in the Functional Job Description</li><li>Must be able to successfully pass all pre-employment screening (drug test, fit test) in addition to random drug and alcohol testing&nbsp;</li><li>Must be authorized to work in the US. This position is not eligible for work VISA sponsorship.</li></ul><p><strong>SCHEDULE AND COMPENSATION</strong></p><ul><li>Weekly pay, one week in arrears</li><li>Four weeks on, with two week off (28/14). Depending on the company&#39;s specific needs, there is an opportunity to work additional weeks.</li><li>Standard work hours are typically 12 hours daily; however, adjustments may be made depending on the operational requirements.</li><li>This is an FLSA, Non-Exempt position, meaning any hours worked over 40 in the same work week will be compensated as overtime.</li></ul><p><strong>Candidates who do not meet the minimum requirements will not be considered.</strong></p><p><strong>This is not a VISA sponsored position, must be authorized to work in the US.</strong></p><p>Encore Dredging Partners, LLC is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
