Other responsibilities include participation in quality improvement/quality assurance programs to support Jail Health Services care goals, medical oversight, consultation, and management of specialized health care programs for Jail Health Services. &nbsp;</p><p><strong><u>MAJOR DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS</u></strong></p><ul><li>Diagnoses, manages, educates, and counsels patients on a broad scope of personal health care issues; manages care provided to inmates with complex medical problems.</li><li>Performs minor procedures, prescribes medications, and makes referrals for specialty services when necessary.</li><li>Provides care to inmates in medical emergencies, including necessary support to maintain life and stabilize conditions.</li><li>Documents all medical evaluations, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, treatment outcomes, referrals and consultations.</li><li>Participates in training other providers on clinical and procedural topics and provide technical consultation to mid-level providers and nursing staff.</li><li>Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of treatment guidelines and service delivery models.</li><li>Works with others within the program to assure compliance with NCCHC standards and subsequent accreditation.</li><li>Monitors and maintains log on chronic care and any referrals as part of their disposition upon their return.&nbsp;</li><li>Supervises, schedules and leads the chronic care providers team to assure smooth clinic flow.</li><li>Assists with conducting chart reviews for case summary, CQI and responses as needed.&nbsp;</li><li>Assists with identification of supply and equipment needs for urgent care.&nbsp;</li><li>Coordinates provider schedule and coverage.&nbsp;</li><li>Collaborates to improve or maintain provider/staff/patient satisfaction, quality of care, and productivity.</li><li>Provides feedback to the Medical Leadership Team in regard to staffing and hiring.&nbsp;</li><li>Assists with conduction of annual evaluations of urgent care providers.&nbsp;</li><li>Assists with new provider orientation to Correctional Health Care Services and serve as a resource to all providers.&nbsp;</li></ul><p><strong><u>MINIMUM&nbsp;QUALIFICATIONS</u></strong></p><ul><li>Graduation from an accredited medical school</li><li>Must have valid license to practice in Washington, DC&nbsp;</li><li>Must have a current DEA registration and CDS certificate</li><li>Must be Board certified in internal medicine<strong>&nbsp;</strong></li><li><strong>Work experience in corrections preferred</strong></li></ul><p><strong>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED</strong></p><ul><li>Experience with leading physicians and Advanced Practice Practitioners (PAs/NPs) strongly preferred.</li><li>Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary health care team.</li><li>Willingness to work rotating schedules/shifts, when necessary, in DOC facility.&nbsp;</li><li>Public Health relies on office automation and web enabled tools. Therefore, candidates must be proficient in computer use to perform functions associated with on-going work, to research information and take training.</li><li>Preferably have 5-10 years&rsquo; experience in ambulatory or inpatient care setting.&nbsp;</li></ul><h3><u>SUPERVISORY CONTROLS</u></h3><ul><li>This position reports to the Medical Director. &nbsp;</li><li>This position will assist the deputy medical director who overlooks and supervises all providers who work in chronic care clinics at CTF &amp; CDF. &nbsp;</li></ul><p><strong><u>GUIDELINES</u></strong></p><p>The position abides by all rules and regulations set forth by applicable licensing and regulatory bodies and the UHC policies and procedures. &nbsp;</p><p><strong><u>PERSONAL CONTACTS</u></strong></p><p>The position requires contact with staff at all levels throughout the organization. &nbsp; There are also external organization relationships that may be a part of the work of the incumbent. <strong>&nbsp;</strong></p><p><strong><u>PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK ENVIRONMENT</u></strong>&nbsp;</p><p>Some walking, standing, bending, and carrying of light items such as books and paper is required.
