Position Overview Department: Neonatal ICU, NICU Schedule: Part Time Work Location: UAB St. Vincent's Birmingham Benefits for eligible positions only include: generous paid time off, paid parental leave, Associate Assistance Program, Tuition Reimbursement Program, and more The Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at UAB St. Vincent’s Birmingham is a 32-bed open bay unit where we provide advanced treatment for the smallest and most vulnerable patients with a range of infant complications, including prematurity, respiratory distress, neonatal sepsis, neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS), and birth injuries. With a dedicated team of board-certified neonatologists and experienced neonatal nurse practitioners, we work closely with the UAB Women & Infants Center and Children’s of Alabama to deliver expert care. Nurses on this unit get a rewarding experience where they can offer empathy, parental education, and support in a compassionate environment for neonatal care. What You Will Do In collaboration with a physician, provides for the expansion of individualized primary healthcare servicesby diagnosing and treating certain acute or chronic health conditions. Obtains patient history and performs assessment via observation, interview and examination.Orders, performs and interprets diagnostic studies. Performs preventative health assessments, screening, immunizations and patient care. Provides direct treatment and management of health conditions via prescriptive authority or referral to other healthcare providers or community resources. Counsels and educates patients and their families/caregivers concerning preventative health,treatment options and community resources. Documents delivery of health care and nursing processes in accordance with specific specialty area standards and network nursing policy. What You Will Need Licenses / Certifications / Registrations BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted. Certified Advanced Practice Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Drug Enforcement Admin credentialed from the Drug Enforcement Administration preferred. Education: Master's degree of Nursing required.
