    "description": "<p>We’re looking for an Engineer to join our Toronto office. In this role, you’ll be responsible for <span>creating structural schemes for typical construction types, with understanding of design, construction, and cost factors, while coordinating and resolving issues with architects, other consultants, and contractors.</span></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>An ideal candidate has Minimum four years of relevant structural engineering experience, including minimum one year of construction-stage experience that is looking to grow and develop their career in a top-tier, dynamic firm. We’re searching for individuals who lead with integrity that are honest, reliable, and good listeners.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Primary Responsibilities:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Contributes to creating and comparing structural schemes</li>\n<li>Contributes to basis of design and design strategy documents</li>\n<li>Carries out design tasks across wide range of common design elements</li>\n<li>Carries out construction reviews across wide range of construction elements</li>\n<li>Delegates and leads others in carrying out design tasks and construction reviews</li>\n<li>Presents structural schemes to architects and other engineers</li>\n<li>Coordinates structural design with architectural and non-structural engineering requirements</li>\n<li>Coordinates construction-stage solutions with contractor and design team</li>\n<li>Resolves individual design conflicts between structural and other requirements</li>\n<li>Provides solutions to issues arising from construction errors and unforeseen site conditions</li>\n<li>Provides technical mentoring to more junior engineers</li>\n<li>Reads contracts for own projects</li>\n<li>Sets and maintains project budgets</li>\n<li>Maintains up-to-date data in project management software</li>\n<li>Prepares monthly invoices</li>\n<li>Manages and chairs internal project meetings</li>\n<li>Maintains minutes for internal and external project minutes</li>\n<li>Organizes project documentation in accordance with QA/QC procedures</li>\n<li>Coordinates with BIM staff</li>\n<li>Manages project scope and additional services</li>\n<li>Collaborates with other project managers to resolve workload issues and conflicting deadlines</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">How you fit into the team:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>You report directly to a Studio Director</li>\n<li>You work closely with one or more Studio Teams </li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">What you bring to the table:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Degree (bachelor’s or above) in civil/structural engineering.</li>\n<li>Minimum four years of relevant structural engineering experience, including a minimum of one year of construction-stage experience.</li>\n<li>P.Eng. Designation.</li>\n<li>Strong written communication skills and the ability to prepare, read, and interpret technical documentation independently.</li>\n<li>Understands structural concepts, loads, systems and elements for all common building conditions.</li>\n<li>Ability to draw structural diagrams explaining load paths, internal forces, and deflected shapes for common systems and elements.</li>\n<li>Ability to draw connection details for common elements in each main structural material.</li>\n<li>Familiarity with building and material code provisions, including derivation of gravity and lateral loads.</li>\n<li>Hands-on project experience in design and detailing of common systems and elements in each main structural material, including lateral systems.</li>\n<li>Understands general construction methods in common materials based on direct construction-phase experience.</li>\n<li>Understands costs of typical structural materials and building types.</li>\n<li>Proficient in using and troubleshooting common design software.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Why work for Fast + Epp?</span></p>\n<p>At Fast + Epp, we strive to be more than a typical engineering firm.
