Description
Specialist - Process Control Technician
Job Summary:
The Process Control Technician will provide technical support for maintaining, troubleshooting, programming and change control of any/all PLC/PC based and non-PLC/PC based process control systems for equipment and facilities at the Seymour Manufacturing Site. This includes the installation of new or upgraded devices, instrumentation, and equipment. The goal is to support the manufacturing of pharmaceuticals in compliance with US and EU cGMPs and other regulations as necessary.
The Process Control Technician will support the Seymour Manufacturing Site facility and related equipment and processes to support 24/7 operation of a production facility. This position has no direct P&L or budget responsibility but is responsible for contributing on an individual level to department and site goals and budgets.
Responsibilities:
Identify, maintain, and troubleshoot PLC’s, HMIs and PC components and programs using relevant software Perform preventive and corrective maintenance tasks/activities on controls and devices. PMs include routine battery replacement, routine backups, etc. Perform basic to intermediate levels of wiring and terminations- high/low/control voltages equipment and control devices. Basic level of troubleshooting abilities on all levels of control wiring Identify and maintain robotics system components Identify, maintain, and assist with troubleshooting control network components Identify, maintain, and troubleshoot motor controls including motor starters, Variable Frequency Drives, DC drives, and standard electrical components Troubleshoot electrical control circuits and control systems up to and including 480V 3-phase, 110 VAC, and 24VDC-24VAC systems Replace components and reconfigure programs or settings as needed to maintain a controlled or validated state Assist with all levels of process and controls improvements from basic wiring/component replacement or upgrades to complete system or controls upgrades Locate, review, and utilize ladder logic programs to aid in troubleshooting Perform routine and non-routine program backup from various platforms for systems and equipment Apply reasoning, analytical, and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot equipment or system issues Ability to interpret drawings- mechanical and electrical Ability to train other technicians on controls systems and applications Gather data and collect information to support Capital Appropriations Requests. Able to create the documentation and steps necessary to assist with execution of capital projects. Perform basic project management tasks Assist Information Technology with holistic control system infrastructure Flexibility of work hours and/or days along with the ability to work overtime as needed to support 24/7 plant operations As required – develop and deliver training on equipment operation or changes Support SOP and/or training documentation Create or support Change Control documentation Able to work independently and remotely to complete projects based on controls drawings, and other technical documents Education/Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED Required Associate Degree in Industrial Mechanics Technology, Instrumentation or Electronics degree is desired. A license and/or a certification course from a recognized source is desired. Training in in the form of an apprentice program with on-the-job training would also be taken under consideration.Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP) 5 years plus experience in maintenance or operations within a pharmaceutical environment preferred Working or hands-on experience with process control systems, automation and/or serialized packaging operations Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics Ability to handle multiple projects and assignments with varying priorities in a manner that meets the Company’s goals Ability to effectively communicate with vendors, suppliers, and manufacturing Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, mechanical and control drawings Basic knowledge and understanding of computers, PLCs, VFDs and other control systems/devices or equipment is preferred Ability to troubleshoot and program VFDs/ similar devices or controllers is preferred Knowledge of engineering documentation requirements in a cGMP regulated environment Basic knowledge and use of electrical, hand tools and test equipment common to maintenance technicians High level mechanical, electrical, and trouble-shooting skills Capability to review and correct mechanical and electrical diagrams as well as a basic level understanding of how to read blueprints Pharmaceutical experience or GMP experience is desired Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) desired Ability to be flexible with work priorities and work effectively as part of a team Knowledge of INFOREAM is preferred Ability to be flexible with work priorities and work effectively as part of a team and in an individual capacity Execute mid-level computer functions for communications and work order execution Traditional office environment, with frequent walking to, exposed to external elements of weather, other areas of the facility, including production areas, loading docks, mechanical spaces, and warehouse Must be able to wear company designated protective equipment for extended periods of time, including respirators, CAL rated ARC flash gear etc. Must be able to stand and perform tasks or repairs for the entire work shift Must be able to lift 20 pounds or greater
