Position Overview
Perform computer and customer service-related duties in an office setting. This position requires the successful candidate to maintain a smart phone on which to receive telephone calls, email, and SMS messages from Undergraduate Admissions and Campus Tours and Events personnel. Additionally, this student position requires physical and manual labor. This position will require driving a campus golf cart, conducting campus tours in any type of weather conditions, moving equipment and set-up for campus events, occasional work outside of normal business hours.
Hours per Week
20 hours per week, Monday-Friday, with the ability to work some weekends and during the summer
College/Department
Undergraduate Admissions Campus Tours and Events.
Department Specific Job Functions
Assist in coordinating the logistics of events including, but not limited to all UCO Undergraduate Admissions and Recruiting Campus Tours and Events.
Will assist with the coordination of the Student Ambassador efforts.
Assist in recruiting volunteers for events as needed.
Update and maintain event database.
Assists with general arrangements, registrations, participant confirmations, and preparing information for general, group, and self-guided tours.
Assist with office and secretarial duties that may include but are not limited to typing, filing, answering telephones, customer service, and scheduling appointments.
Assist with social media for UCO Campus Tours and Events.
Must be available to work weekends during events and during the summers.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Enrollment Requirements
Fall/Spring Semesters : All student employees must be enrolled at least half-time to be eligible to work any UCO student position. Half-time enrollment for fall/spring semesters is considered 5 hours for graduates and 6 hours for undergraduates. International students must be enrolled full-time to be eligible to work as a student employee. Full-time enrollment is 9 credit hours for graduates and 12 credit hours for undergraduates.
Summer Semester : Student employees working regular student positions must be enrolled in at least 3 credit hours to be eligible to work during the summer. Students not enrolled in summer classes must be enrolled in fall classes in order to work during the summer, but they (and the department) will be required to pay FICA taxes. Student employees working FWSP positions must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours (if undergraduate) or 5 credit hours (if graduate) in order to work during the summer in a Federal Work Study Program position.
Enrollment Exception : If the number of credit hours needed to graduate is less than the minimum number of hours required for student employment, the student must obtain a letter from their Academic Advisor (stating the number of hours needed to graduate and anticipated graduation date) and submit it to Human Resources. This pertains to both regular and Federal Work Study Program positions. Contact [email protected] for more information.
Qualifications/Experience Required
A valid driver's license is required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Must be able to work year-round, including summers.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Have sensitivity of intercultural communication.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Detail oriented and a self-starter.
Required character traits: Dependability, thoroughness, and initiative.
Ability to work independently.
Good interpersonal skills.
Punctual.
Physical Demands
