At VOA we are committed to providing opportunities that help staff grow and enhance their skill sets.  As part of this commitment, we invest in on-the-job training to prepare employees for their new positions and offer professional development opportunities, coaching, and career pathways to promote our culture of helping staff advance their careers throughout the organization. ­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­ JOB DESCRIPTION _____________________________________________________________________________ Summary/Objective The Executive Director of Corrections is responsible for leading community corrections programs.  Ensure all programs comply with all Volunteers of America, Department of Corrections, Bureau of Prisons, and grant contractual policies and procedures.  Responsibilities include ensuring program compliance with policies and procedures, staffing, risk management, and client services. Essential Functions Lead correctional program s. Ensures the program(s) are in compliance with all Volunteers of America, Bureau of Prisons, and Wyoming Department of Corrections policies and procedures. Provides direct supervision to the service coordinator supervisor, program managers, and support staff. Works with directors and SVP of Operations to prepare budgets. Community engagement. Monitors monthly financials of all programs, addressing variances as necessary. Regularly markets, monitors, and audits all program services. Regularly identifies physical plant needs, their issues, and solutions. Regularly communicates verbally and in writing with the SVP of Operations, other directors, accounting staff, program directors, and all contract customers. Provides information for strategic planning and is responsible for implementation among the programs. Regularl y monitors the organization’s training to ensure staff are appropriately trained. Partners with the Service Coordinator Supervisor, Program Managers, and the Human Resources Department to support staff management activities, including disciplinary actions and employee recognition. Provides oversight to ensure that staff and resident handbooks are annually updated. Collaborates with Human Resources in the recruitment and hiring of staff, ensuring all required documentation is submitted upon completion of the hiring process Attends re-offender resource fairs as scheduled quarterly, and travels to facilities when needed. Conduct program quality control procedures. Assists with resident issues as needed. Represents the organization to the public on a daily basis. Oversees census, outcome measurement systems, and annual reporting. Directly manages referrals for DOC, DOC Sanction Program, and BOP. Maintain a relationship with the Community Corrections Board and attend all meetings, and prepare and present VOA report at the full board. Manage and maintain relationships with the BOP Contract Oversight Specialist (COS) and DOC Contract Managers. Acts as PREA (Prison Rape Elimination Act) compliance manager for Booth Hall. Coordinate and attend meetings with the Community Corrections Board (CCB) to communicate and report data requirements. Review and advocate for applicants, including those requiring full board acceptance. Establish and maintain a strong working relationship with the Community Corrections Board, county commissioners, and local agencies as defined by the Community Corrections statute. Prepare and organize resident packets for presentation at two admission boards each month, meet with and advocate for sanction placements and DOC referrals as required by the admissions process. Work Environment This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, photocopiers, and smartphones . Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or listen. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand on a stool as necessary. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. The days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Travel Some travel is expected for this position. Required Education, Experience or Eligibility Qualifications This position requires clearance and approval from the Department of Corrections and Bureau of Prison and their background check.  You cannot have any felony convictions, misdemeanor convictions involving assaultive, abusive, or violent behavior.  You cannot be on supervised or unsupervised probation.  You cannot have any current or pending criminal charges or court proceedings.  You cannot have two or more DUIs, public intoxication, or disorderly conduct within the last three years.   Any criminal history, law enforcement contact, etc., is requested to be disclosed.  Failure to disclose any law enforcement charges, or criminal history in advance will automatically disqualify the applicant for the position Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in a social or behavioral science program; Criminal Justice, Behavioral Science and at least (3) year of work experience in a related field. At least three (3) years of supervisory experience in human services or a related field. OR Associate degree and At least five (5) years of progressive related human services work experience, at least two (2) of which were in a position as a director and/or assistant director; and At least four (4) years of supervisory experience in human services or a related field. Preferred Education and Experience Minimum of bachelor’s degree (typically in Social Services) and Five (5) years of progressive related human services work experience. OR An associate degree and At least five (5) years of progressive related human services work experience At least two (2) of which were in a position as a director and/or assistant director and At least three (3) years of supervisory experience in human services or a related field.
