Description

Description Job Summary: The EHS Coordinator develops, implements, and maintains safety programs in a food manufacturing facility, ensuring regulatory compliance and a strong safety culture across all operations. This role leads risk assessments, incident investigations, employee training, and Process Safety Management (PSM) for the onsite ammonia refrigeration system. Qualifications Key Responsibilities: Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive EHS programs and policies in compliance with OSHA, FDA, FSMA, and other applicable regulations. Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and hazard/risk assessments to identify and mitigate workplace hazards. Investigate incidents and near misses, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions. Coordinate and deliver effective safety training programs for employees, contractors, and new hires. Track, analyze, and report EHS performance metrics, including leading and lagging indicators. Serve as back-up for the EHS Manager. Serve as a key point of contact during regulatory inspections and audits. Maintain required EHS documentation, records, and permits. Skills & Qualifications: Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and develop practical solutions. Training in ammonia refrigeration safety, HAZOP/PHA, and root cause analysis methodologies. Strong knowledge of OSHA standards, PSM requirements, and food safety regulations. Focused on a proactive, solution-oriented mindset with a genuine commitment to employee safety. Experience in working effectively in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. Naturally skilled at verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage employees at all levels. Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent years of progressive EHS experience).
