Description

Basic Qualifications Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field. Also requires 15+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 13 years of job-related experience. CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Department of Defense TS/SCI security clearance with Polygraph is preferred at time of hire. Candidates must be able to obtain a TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph within a reasonable amount of time from date of hire.Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required. Responsibilities for this Position General Dynamics Mission Systems has provided high reliability space electronics since the 1960s. Four hundred space missions later, side-by-side with the US Government, our technology is providing critical support to our defense as well as orbiting other planets. We are amongst the Nation’s thought leaders for digital technology in space and continue to invest in critical new technologies to improve performance, flexibility, reliability, and affordability. Our goal is to architect solutions serving today’s missions, but ready for tomorrow’s hard problems. This position offers an opportunity to contribute the cutting-edge space systems and technology in support of our Nation's defense. Our teams work closely with mission partners to develop solutions enabling critical national security missions. The selected candidate will lead efforts to transition critical technologies into space. Learn more about our space work here: Mission Payloads Spaceborne Communications and Electronics Position Objectives: A successful candidate will lead technical efforts ensuring our space systems meet performance objectives in intense radiation environments. This includes effects due to both natural space and nuclear radiation environments. The objectives of a Distinguished Member of the Technical Staff for Radiation Effects include: Ensure mission success through proactive technical engagement and innovation Drive technology, capabilities, and their integration into roadmaps and products Validate and establish new engineering radiation effects processes Mentor junior engineers and team-member What sets you apart: Deep subject matter expertise in natural space radiation environments including modelling and analysis techniques Expertise in radiation effects mitigation at the component and system level Experience integrating commercial technology into high reliability, high availability space systems Creative, innovative, and a desire to drive change Commitment to ongoing professional development for yourself and others Identifies opportunities to apply AI for continuous improvement and innovation Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or Physics WORKPLACE OPTIONS: This position may be performed fully on-site or flex, depending on the needs of our programs.
