Over 10,000 homeless individuals are cared for by Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program each year. Our clinicians, case managers, and behavioral health professionals work in more than 30 locations to serve some of our community’s most vulnerable—and most resilient—citizens. We provide community-based health care services that are compassionate, dignified, and culturally appropriate, incorporating social determinants of health, with the goal of breaking down the physical and systemic barriers that our patients face. Summary of Position: Hours:  Full-time; 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday Environmental Services Manager - Boston Healthcare for the Homeless Program Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program is seeking an experienced, knowledgeable, and skilled Environmental Services Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will have management experience in environmental services within a health care setting and possess knowledge of infection prevention and control, operational experience managing a team of housekeeping and environmental services staff, and have hands-on experience working throughout an aging and complicated facility. Environmental services will involve patient safety along with the ability to train and manage their staff in these practices. Responsibilities: Oversee and manage staff deployed in a variety of settings within a healthcare facility - including ambulatory clinics and overnight medical respite areas. Effectively manage staff to ensure timely and thorough cleaning and disinfection practices; Provide training in areas including proper hand hygiene, PPE use, safe chemical handling and respective patient-centered interactions. Oversee proper handling, storage, and disposal of regulated medical waste, with a focus on sharps injury prevention and bloodborne pathogen precautions. Respond to urgent cleaning requests including spills of potential blood borne pathogens. Collaborate with Infection Prevention in the implementation of evidence-based practices to prevent health care-associated infections through regular meetings, routine environmental rounds and quality inspections. Continue to stay compliant and informed of appropriate cleaning and disinfection products to use in a health care setting in terms of their safety data profile, mechanism of use and contact time. Ensure proper storage, labeling and dilution per manufacturer’s instructions for use and facility protocols. Adhere to guidelines as mandated at a state and federal level including CDC, DPH, OSHA and the EPA. Participate as a member of the water management team to ensure water safety while continuing to train staff on any guidelines and recommendations. Qualifications: Experience in leading Environmental Services within a health care setting Management experience of distributed staff and 24/7 operations strongly preferred Experience managing staff in a union environment preferred Skills in problem solving, strategic thinking and adaptability. Knowledge and ability to follow mandated safety protocols Experience and Education BA/BS or relevant Technical School certification highly preferred  3+ years of supervisory experience Team Building Competencies: Displays concern and initiative Problem-solving skills Observed and supported program policies Cooperates and maintains good rapport with staff, patients, vendors, and patients Ability to learn and adapt Physical and Mental Requirements : Able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally Able to lift up to 20 pounds regularly Able to climb and descend stairs, basement through roof Able to bend and stoop Able to sit and stand for long periods of time, dependent on required activity Ability to put on and use proper PPE in certain settings and adherence to safety procedures. Compensation and Benefits: The compensation increases based on years of experience and ranges from $60,000 - 96,000 annually. BHCHP full time employees are eligible for our competitive time off program, health, dental and vision insurance, 403B retirement savings plan, pre-tax MBTA pass program with 40% discount, additional compensation for demonstrated bilingual proficiency and more. Benefits are prorated for part-time employees. We provide community-based health care services that are compassionate, dignified, and culturally appropriate, incorporating social determinants of health, with the goal of breaking down the physical and systemic barriers that our patients face.\n Summary of Position:\n Hours:  Full-time; 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday\n Environmental Services Manager - Boston Healthcare for the Homeless Program\n Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program is seeking an experienced, knowledgeable, and skilled Environmental Services Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will have management experience in environmental services within a health care setting and possess knowledge of infection prevention and control, operational experience managing a team of housekeeping and environmental services staff, and have hands-on experience working throughout an aging and complicated facility. Environmental services will involve patient safety along with the ability to train and manage their staff in these practices.\n Responsibilities: Oversee and manage staff deployed in a variety of settings within a healthcare facility - including ambulatory clinics and overnight medical respite areas.\n Effectively manage staff to ensure timely and thorough cleaning and disinfection practices;\n Provide training in areas including proper hand hygiene, PPE use, safe chemical handling and respective patient-centered interactions.\n Oversee proper handling, storage, and disposal of regulated medical waste, with a focus on sharps injury prevention and bloodborne pathogen precautions.\n Respond to urgent cleaning requests including spills of potential blood borne pathogens.\n Collaborate with Infection Prevention in the implementation of evidence-based practices to prevent health care-associated infections through regular meetings, routine environmental rounds and quality inspections.\n Continue to stay compliant and informed of appropriate cleaning and disinfection products to use in a health care setting in terms of their safety data profile, mechanism of use and contact time. Ensure proper storage, labeling and dilution per manufacturer’s instructions for use and facility protocols.\n Adhere to guidelines as mandated at a state and federal level including CDC, DPH, OSHA and the EPA.\n Participate as a member of the water management team to ensure water safety while continuing to train staff on any guidelines and recommendations.\n Qualifications: Experience in leading Environmental Services within a health care setting\n Management experience of distributed staff and 24/7 operations strongly preferred\n Experience managing staff in a union environment preferred\n Skills in problem solving, strategic thinking and adaptability.\n Knowledge and ability to follow mandated safety protocols\n Experience and Education BA/BS or relevant Technical School certification highly preferred\n 3+ years of supervisory experience\n Team Building Competencies: Displays concern and initiative\n Problem-solving skills\n Observed and supported program policies\n Cooperates and maintains good rapport with staff, patients, vendors, and patients\n Ability to learn and adapt\n Physical and Mental Requirements : Able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally\n Able to lift up to 20 pounds regularly\n Able to climb and descend stairs, basement through roof\n Able to bend and stoop\n Able to sit and stand for long periods of time, dependent on required activity\n Ability to put on and use proper PPE in certain settings and adherence to safety procedures.\n Compensation and Benefits: The compensation increases based on years of experience and ranges from $60,000 - 96,000 annually.\n BHCHP full time employees are eligible for our competitive time off program, health, dental and vision insurance, 403B retirement savings plan, pre-tax MBTA pass program with 40% discount, additional compensation for demonstrated bilingual proficiency and more. Benefits are prorated for part-time employees.\n Does this amazing opportunity interest you?
