Framatome's Installed Base Engineering organization is seeking Fluid Systems Engineers for our office in Lynchburg, VA. This position will be involved in one or more projects involving next-generation Advanced Reactors, as well as installed-base nuclear power plants (e.g., on power uprates and other major plant modification projects). Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to: • For next-generation Advanced Reactor projects, the Fluid Systems Engineer is responsible for the overall systems design in nuclear power plants (Primary Systems, Engineered Safeguard Systems, and Balance of Plant / BOP). This include development of the mechanical and I&C designs of the systems in accordance with regulatory requirements and guidance, as well as evaluation of thermal-hydraulic and safety analyses.• For power uprates and other plant modification projects, the Fluid Systems Engineer is responsible for the system design evaluation and modification, evaluating the impact of the power uprate (from measurement uncertainty recapture to extended power uprate) and any plant modification(s) on the system(s) in which they are responsible for. What You’ll Do Day-To-Day Perform standard and non-standard engineering assignments typically in areas of design, development, analysis, evaluation, testing, preparation of specifications, execution of field tasks resolution of field problems and resolution of quality events. Solve a range of straightforward problems, analyze solutions and assess each using standard procedures. Ensure compliance with government regulations, organization, industry and customer engineering standards with support of senior staff. Independently evaluate, select and apply standard technical techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgement in making minor adaptations and modifications for tasks previously performed. What You'll Bring Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering. Dependent on the position, degrees in Physics, Engineering Technology and Engineering Science may also be accepted. Minimum of 2 years of related experience. Knowledge of related engineering standards, techniques and criteria. Advanced level of specific software tools (CAD, FEA, CFD) and programming skills. Knowledge of related Engineering standards, techniques, and criteria for Fluid Systems Engineering. This will focus on mechanical process system design (new nuclear designs and nuclear plant modifications). Familiarity with NRC regulatory requirements and guidance for the applications to construct and operate nuclear power plants (e.g., 10 CFR 50.55a, 10 CFR 50 Appendices A and B, NUREG-0800). Familiarity with 10 CFR 50.59 for the license amendment requirements for nuclear power plant modifications. Understanding of ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel code. Awareness of configuration management of a system design, working on advanced reactor designs, and working in multiple plant areas (Primary, Engineered Safeguards, BOP, Turbine Cycle). Total Rewards Package Total Rewards Package Salary: $75,000 - $97,000, and may also include annual incentives and performance bonuses. The base salary range is a guideline. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies and work location.
