    "description": "<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\"> MATH REMEDIATION SPECIALIST</span></span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Job Description</span></span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 15px;\">The Remediation Specialist (RS) works under the Leadership of the Principal; collaborates with the Assistant Principal, Instructional Coach, Department Chairs and Grade Level Leads to plan, organize, and implement an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. The RS is responsible for providing an educational atmosphere where students have the opportunity to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and psychological growth. Works to achieve the academic goals of the department through the International Baccalaureate Program at the school. The RS is a 10.5 month position.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\"><span style=\"font-size: 15px; text-decoration: underline;\">Major Duties and students, parents, peers, and community</span></li>\n</ul>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 15px;\">Instructional Leadership</span></li>\n</ol>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 15px;\">Modify schemes of work and lesson plans that target small-group instruction</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 15px;\">Work with individual students or small groups of students to provide educational interventions and progress monitoring</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 15px;\">Work with the classroom teacher to track student progress and modify lessons and activities for individual students</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 15px;\">Maintains records of interventions and progress monitoring to insure process fidelity</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 15px;\">Provide high-quality general education instruction to students who are at risk in reading, writing, mathematics and science.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 15px;\">Maintain data-based documentation of continuous monitoring of student performance and progress during interventions</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 15px;\">Interpret data reports to design intervention plans for students at risk (Jpams, MAPs, interim assessments, etc)</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 15px;\">Provide high quality instruction time needed to move students to grade-level proficiency</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 15px;\">Provide data to the school teams and participate in decisions about student progress</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 15px;\">Prepare classroom for small group class activities.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 15px;\">Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 15px;\">Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 15px;\">Observe and evaluate student performance and development.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 15px;\">Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 15px;\">Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 15px;\">Apply appropriate disciplinary measures where necessary.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 15px;\">Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and student needs.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 15px;\">Perform related duties and responsibilities as requested by the Director and/or principal</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 15px;\">Strategic Planning </span></li>\n</ol>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 15px;\">Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 15px;\">Prepare required reports on students and activities. </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 15px;\">Identifies, selects, and modifies instructional resources to meet the needs of the students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 15px;\">Prepare weekly reports of students services and progress</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 15px;\">Meet periodically with ADC and teacher to design individual plans  for student interventions</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 15px;\">Resource Management</span></li>\n</ol>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 15px;\">Participate in department, school, and parent meetings.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 15px;\">Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by law, district policies, and school regulations.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 15px;\">Use relevant technology to support instruction.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 15px;\">Identify and select different instructional resources and methods to meet students' varying needs. </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 15px;\">Perform certain pastoral duties including, but not limited to: student support, counseling students with academic problems, and providing student encouragement.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 15px;\">Collaborates with peers to enhance the instructional environment</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 15px;\">Participates in professional development activities.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: Qualifications</span></span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 15px; text-decoration: underline;\">Education &amp; Experience</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 15px;\">Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution (required). Valid Louisiana Teaching Certification or evidence of eligibility for one. 2+ years of teaching experience in a high school environment.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 15px; text-decoration: underline;\">Skills</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 15px;\">Knowledge of relevant technology. Ability to speak, read, and write in a language other than English (preferred). Demonstrates strong work ethic to achieve school goals. Displays effective multitasking and time management skills. Utilizes all required and recommended IHS computer applications. Have knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices in secondary education. Have the ability to conform to an established work schedule. Have effective interpersonal skills. Repetitive bending, stretching, and stooping. Ability to climb up and down 3 flights of stairs. Have mobility required to ensure the safety of the students? Work outdoors in any variety of weather. Have visual and hearing capabilities that allow consistent supervision of students. Perform light duty cleaning.
