As part of our corporate culture, we recognize our role in meeting the current generation’s needs, while preserving environmental quality and protecting the needs of future generations.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>We are looking for a student intern at our Festus, MO plant who want to become part of the solution, help us continue providing quality products, and grow our talent and leader pool.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p>The Safety and Health Intern will help perform <strong>routine safety inspections and observations</strong>, assist with <strong>incident, near-miss, and hazard data collection</strong>, support <strong>basic safety data analysis and reporting</strong>, and perform a <strong>safety-focused research or improvement project</strong>, gathering data and presenting findings to the safety and plant leadership teams. They will also familiarize themselves with <strong>MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration) safety regulations and standards</strong>, including MSHA General Industry requirements such as Lockout/Tagout, Machine Guarding, Confined Space, Hazard Communication, PPE, and Emergency Action Plans.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Responsibilities:</p>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Learn the process flow of cement manufacturing and applicable <strong>MSHA safety regulations and standards</strong> (MSHA General Industry, Lockout/Tagout, Machine Guarding, Confined Space, Hazard Communication, PPE)</li>\n <li>Conduct <strong>safety inspections and observations</strong>, generate reports, and assist with initiating corrective actions</li>\n <li>Support <strong>incident, near-miss, and hazard reporting</strong>, including basic root-cause analysis and documentation</li>\n <li>Assist with <strong>job hazard analyses (JHAs)</strong>, risk assessments, and safe work procedure reviews</li>\n <li>Perform a <strong>safety-related research or improvement project</strong>, gathering data and presenting findings to the safety and plant leadership teams</li>\n <li>Track and analyze <strong>safety performance metrics</strong> (injury rates, near-miss trends, corrective action status, training completion)</li>\n <li>Manage organization, archives, and <strong>recordkeeping for safety and training compliance</strong> (MSHA logs, permits, inspections, training records)</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Desired Majors:</strong> Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Engineering, or related field</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Desired Class Level(s):</strong>  Senior</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Salary Level:</strong>  Paid - $25.00 per hour plus monthly housing stipend if needed</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Duration:</strong>  12 weeks, 40 hours per week</p>\n<p> </p>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p>Qualifications:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Strong interpersonal skills, self-starter and inquisitive by nature</li>\n <li>Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office products, especially Word and Excel</li>\n <li>Solid reasoning, analytical, and communication skills</li>\n <li>Must possess excellent work ethic</li>\n <li>Must be able to multi-task</li>\n</ul>\n<p><em>Buzzi Unicem USA is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
