A Cellular Therapy Transplant Coordinator manages the care process for patients, donors and their caregivers undergoing cell-based therapies, such as CAR T-cell therapy or stem cell transplants. Key responsibilities include patient and family education on treatment processes, coordinating treatment logistics, liaising between the patient and the multidisciplinary medical team, and monitoring patient progress through the pre- and post-treatment phases. The role requires strong organizational skills, medical knowledge, and compassion to navigate the complexities of cellular therapy from patient referral to long-term follow-up care.
Summary of Essential Duties:
Serves as coordinator for the interdisciplinary team, including: physicians, nurses, social workers, dietitians, pharmacists, financial analysts, case managers, and support staff.
Demonstrates knowledge and skill in managing donor and transplant recipient care
Responds to patient calls and clinical concerns and appropriately documents in patient’s medical record.
Collects/documents data to meet clinical, regulatory (OPTN/UNOS/MCS), financial requirements
Participates in the development and implementation of practice guidelines, protocols, pathways, performance improvement and research activities.
Develops, coordinates, implements, and evaluates educational programs/projects for patients, personnel, and the community. Represents the Medical Center at regional and national meetings/conferences.
Qualifications:
Education:
BSN (Bachelor of Science, Nursing) required
License/Certifications:
Current, unrestricted California RN license required
BLS from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required
OCN or BMTCN or other specialty certification required (or willing to obtain one (1) year from start date for external hires)
Experience:
A minimum of 3 years of nursing experience in acute care setting required
