Description
Job Location: Fargo, ND
Are you a structural engineer looking to broaden horizons and start being a mentor to other engineers? Our structural engineers are committed to having fun on the job, but they are also committed to making positive impacts to the communities where they live and work, one project at a time.
What Projects Would I work on?
Structural engineering projects range from complex grade separation projects and large bridges spanning a river with architectural enhancements to box culverts for a rural township over a small ditch. The structural engineers have also designed a variety of hydraulic structures such as dams, floodwalls, gate wells, and some of the most complex lift stations in the region!
Prepare detailed engineering analyses, schedules, technical reports, etc. Design structural engineering projects together with CAD designers. Attend meetings and communicate with other civil engineering disciplines and outside consultants or agencies, to advance structural projects from conceptual level to final design. Manage all aspects of contract administration which includes writing, change requests, invoices, and progress payments and maintain project budget and costs. Perform in-service safety inspections and load ratings of existing bridges. Mentor and oversee the work of less experienced structural engineer team members.
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Agricultural and Biological Systems Engineering, Bioproducts and Biosystem Engineering, or related Engineering field. Minimum of 4 years of experience in the design and construction of structures. ND Professional Engineer license or the ability to obtain the license within 6 months required. Experience operating MicroStation OpenRoads preferred (but not required). Strong leadership and project management skills. Working knowledge of project team roles and responsibilities. Working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local codes. Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with groups both internally and externally.
Benefits of Joining HEI
As part of our talented staff, you will enjoy competitive pay, significant annual bonuses, paid health, dental, vision, life insurance, short and long-term disability, PTO, paid holidays, parental leave, generous 401(k) match, access to HSA & FSAs, flexible schedules, annual HEI logo wear, plus more.
Additionally, view our careers page to read about HEI being selected as one of the ENR top 500 design firms and as one of the PB 50 best places to work for several years in a row!
