We welcome candidates who can contribute to the excellence of our academic community.</p>\n<h2>Description</h2>\n<p>The Division of Animal Resources, Colony Management unit within the Emory National Primate Research Center at Emory University, is currently seeking a full-time Research Specialist to join our team. Our work consists of monitoring the social/behavioral health of captive group-housed rhesus macaques and sooty mangabeys at the Field Station to ensure social stability within socially housed groups. This position entails behavioral and social observation, physical transport, and basic health surveillance of animals. The Field Station is a dynamic work environment where success is dependent on multi-unit collaboration. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>The ideal candidate should be motivated, dependable, detail-oriented, have a positive attitude, and have a passion for research. The Research Specialist will be a team player who is willing to learn on the job and collaborate with lab members and center members. The Research Specialist will work to ensure the highest quality of laboratory research support and has good communication skills with co-workers, the management team, PIs, research staff, students, and other support services.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Collaborate. Learn more at http://enprc.emory.edu</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Under general supervision, performs a variety of defined research and laboratory tests and experiments according to prescribed protocols and assigned schedules.</li>\n <li>Sets up experiments as prescribed by a principal investigator.</li>\n <li>May be required to participate in laboratory maintenance activities such as sterilization and cleaning of equipment, ordering of supplies, inventory and media preparation.</li>\n <li>Maintains records, files and logs of work performed in laboratory notebooks and computer databases.</li>\n <li>Compiles data and records results of studies for publications, grants and seminar presentations.</li>\n <li>Employees in this classification may be required to work with, take specific precautions against and/or be immunized against potentially hazardous agents.</li>\n <li>Performs related responsibilities as required by principal investigator.</li>\n</ul>\n<p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Bachelor's degree in a scientific field OR equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.</li>\n</ul>\n<p>PREFERRED/DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Experience working with laboratory animals is desired. </li>\n <li>Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. </li>\n <li>​Proficiency working with Microsoft Office (Excel and Access) preferred. </li>\n <li>Ability to adapt and thrive in a fast high paced, dynamic work environment.</li>\n</ul>\n<p>WORKING ENVIRONMENT: </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Work schedule to be discussed during interview.</li>\n <li>Work is performed in an outdoor field station (70%) and in an office atmosphere (30%).</li>\n <li>Requires the ability to bend, kneel, and/or squat, and the ability to lift up to 40 lbs.​ </li>\n <li>Work environment involves working with biohazardous blood and tissues. </li>\n <li>Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.</li>\n <li>Performs related responsibilities as directed by Colony Manager and Colony Director.</li>\n</ul>\n<p>PRE-EMPLOYMENT SCREENING STATEMENT:</p>\n<p>The Emory National Primate Research Center (EPC), in conjunction with Emory University, conducts pre-employment screenings for all positions.
