Description Position Value Proposition Working for a world class leader in building structures and bridges, a Schuff Steel Overhead (OH) Crane Operator/Rigger brings his/her expertise and knowledge to build some of the most complex and high-profile projects in the commercial building, bridge and industrial sectors.  OH Crane operators/Riggers transport steel, equipment, supplies and machinery throughout the plant in a safe, timely and efficient manner.  The OH Crane Operator/Rigger utilizes a high degree of proficiency while utilizing full skills of the trade. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Core Responsibilities Critical to the production process, this position requires you to handle and move material and equipment as required to perform such duties ensuring production needs are met Load and unload work skids and machines as needed Actively listening and communicating with others during the function of operating the crane and or rigging Operate cranes in a safe manner Operation and maintenance of all applicable equipment Transport material by crane as needed and required Keeps work area organized and clean Must adhere to and follow all safety rules and PPE requirements Other duties may be assigned Education/Training - Work Experience High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Must have experience with cranes and rigging to manage and move steel material and equipment as needed. Specialized Knowledge – Certificates & Licenses Equipment Knowledge & Skills – may include but not limited to cranes, rigging, and forklifts. Language Skills :  Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Mathematical Skills :  Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure. Reasoning Ability :  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations :  None. Software & Technology Position will require the frequent use of Kronos for timekeeping Work Environment & Physical Demands The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  Inside and outside environment, at times dusty, cold, hot, dirty, and noisy. Working with and around small and large equipment and materials. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to: Fumes or airborne particles and extreme heat. Frequently exposed to risk of electrical shock. Noise level in the work environment is usually very loud. Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; and toxic or caustic chemicals. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required: Regularly required to stand and/or sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach outward and above shoulders with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Frequently it is required to walk and stoop, bend, kneel, squat, crouch, or crawl. Frequently required to climb or balance. Must occasionally lift, carry and/or move up to 50 lbs. Occasionally push and/or pull a maximum force of 200 ft-lb. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
