This position has an end date of December 31, 2026.
Location - This role is in-person at North Campus Edmonton.
The English Language School (ELS) in the Faculty of Education invites applications for English for Academic Purposes (EAP) Lecturers for Fall 2026. These are Academic Teaching Staff (ATS) positions. The position involves the responsibility of teaching one 0-credit course in Language Readiness (EAP 136) or 2 3-credit courses in Academic and Intercultural Communications (INT D 137). The majority of students are in the University’s Bridging Program (BP) or the Year One Foundation Program (YOFP). The contact hours of instruction are 12-16 hours per week plus office hours, plus preparation and marking, Monday through Friday, over a 13-week term. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications, experience, and achievements. The salary range is $70,919 to $102,445 per annum.

Qualifications
Minimum qualifications:
Master's degree in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL), Applied Linguistics or related field; and recent experience in university teaching at the undergraduate level. Skills and Competencies
Experience teaching English language in a post-secondary setting Extensive working knowledge of intercultural relations and environments, cultural sensitivity, and international students Strong classroom management skills Ability to employ varied English language instructional approaches informed by current research Ability to design, select and administer effective formative language assessments Excellent knowledge of grammatical and phonological systems of English Demonstrated ability to effectively implement the curriculum Superior interpersonal skills including the ability to listen and communicate effectively and sensitively, problem solve, negotiate, and an ability to counsel distressed or difficult students Excellent communication skills, including very strong public speaking, presentation, and writing skills; ability to adapt communication style and to collaborate with colleagues Ability to maintain and foster a collegial and professional environment Critical thinking and organizational ability Technically proficient in the computer environment and a working knowledge of various applications.
