    "requisitionDescription": "<div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><p id=\"isPasted\"><strong>JOB SUMMARY:</strong>&nbsp; This position is responsible for protecting life and property and enforcing laws.</p><p><strong>MAJOR DUTIES: &nbsp;</strong></p><ul><li>Performs traffic direction and control at special events; enforces traffic law violations; investigates traffic accidents and produces data to identify high crash and high violation areas.</li><li>Maintains the Alco Sensor IV breath alcohol instrument as assigned; provides written records of the instrument&rsquo;s maintenance to the Department of Health.</li><li>Prepares required reports for accidents, arrests, and other incidents.</li><li>Conducts public and department education by making public appearances as requested.</li><li>Answers calls for service; makes arrests; transports prisoners; serves warrants; patrols business and residential areas.</li><li>Performs documentation; prepares paperwork; conducts follow-up investigations; packages and logs evidence; books and bonds prisoners.</li><li>Maintains equipment, vehicle, and uniform.</li><li>Performs community policing activities.</li><li>Inspects residents for wanted parties.</li><li>Provides ATM escort for banks.</li><li>Distributes inmate meals and provides inmate transport.</li><li>Serves as School Resource Officer as assigned.</li><li>Testifies in court.</li><li>Serves as DARE Officer and/or coordinates DARE program as assigned.</li><li>Participates in or coordinates department training activities.</li><li>Assists in maintaining accreditation files.</li><li>Performs other related duties as assigned.</li></ul><p id=\"isPasted\"><strong>KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION</strong>:</p><ul><li>Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, statutes, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.</li><li>Knowledge of the principles and practices of the criminal justice system.</li><li>Knowledge of standard investigation techniques.</li><li>Skill in the operation of vehicles and specialized equipment.</li><li>Skill in self-defense techniques and the operation of firearms.</li><li>Skill in performing criminal investigations.</li><li>Skill in the use of computers and various software programs.</li><li>Skill in oral and written communication.</li></ul><p id=\"isPasted\"><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</strong></p><ul><li>Must be at least 21 years of age.</li><li>Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent. &nbsp;Two years of college or military experience preferred.</li><li>Missouri POST certification.</li><li>Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver&#39;s license issued by the State of Missouri for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.</li><li>Ability to meet current requirements set forth by the Police Standards and Training Council for the State of Missouri.</li><li>Additional training required after hire.</li><li>Build and maintain tactful, effective/positive working relationship with co-workers, other city employees, and the public.</li><li>Foster and contribute to a work environment that supports and exhibits honesty, diversity, integrity, trust and respect.</li><li>Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality</li></ul></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div>\n",
