    "ExternalDescriptionStr": "<p><strong>Job Summary:</strong></p>\n<p>A Systems Engineer Manager within NOV Digital Completion Services (DCS) is responsible for designing, prototyping, testing, and delivering electrical and embedded system components used in oilfield data acquisition systems. This role spans embedded firmware, hardware design, networking, and leading a small team. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in secure and reliable connectivity, device provisioning, lifecycle management, and cross-functional collaboration while actively contributing to implementation, troubleshooting, and system integration efforts.</p>\n<p><strong>Essential Job Responsibilities:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Design, prototype, test, and deliver electrical and embedded system components for oilfield data acquisition systems.</li>\n <li>Conduct rigorous laboratory testing to validate system performance and reliability under dynamic operating conditions.</li>\n <li>Develop and maintain embedded firmware.</li>\n <li>Improve code efficiency and reduce power consumption on resource-constrained embedded platforms.</li>\n <li>Support secure and reliable device connectivity, provisioning, and lifecycle management.</li>\n <li>Troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware, firmware, power, timing, and communication issues.</li>\n <li>Optimize system designs for simplicity, serviceability, and long-term reliability in demanding oilfield environments.</li>\n <li>Create and maintain comprehensive design documentation, including block diagrams, schematics, pseudocode, simulation results, test procedures, and acceptance criteria.</li>\n <li>Contribute to knowledge transfer, training materials, and continuous improvement initiatives.</li>\n <li>Travel to customer locations to perform field testing and first-article installations, including work in remote and challenging field environments.</li>\n <li>Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support system integration, troubleshooting, and deployment activities.</li>\n <li>Manage a team of up to 5 direct reports.</li>\n <li>Other duties as required.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Qualification Requirements:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Minimum of 5 years of experience in embedded systems and hardware development.</li>\n <li>For Engineer- Eligible for registration as a member in training or a member of APEGA.&nbsp; PE license preferred but not required.</li>\n <li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders.</li>\n <li>Strong organizational and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced engineering environment.</li>\n <li>Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.</li>\n <li>Demonstrated ownership, accountability, and a proactive problem-solving mindset.</li>\n <li>Ability to contribute effectively within cross-functional teams while meeting project timelines and commitments.</li>\n <li>Positive attitude, adaptability, and willingness to support team success.</li>\n <li>Ability and willingness to travel as required for customer support, testing, and field installations.</li>\n <li>Ability to work safely and effectively in industrial and remote field environments.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Technical Requirements:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Strong experience with programing languages C/C++. Other programing language knowledge a plus (RTOS, MicroPython).</li>\n <li>Strong experience with networking protocols: CAN Bus, Modbus, OPC-UA, MQTT, TCP/IP, Serial, and TLS.</li>\n <li>Strong experience with CAD and PLM software: SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Teamcenter, SolidWorks PDM</li>\n <li>Experience working with industrial PLCs, Raspberry Pi, Espressif (ESP32), and/or Arduino platforms.</li>\n <li>Proven ability to maintain legacy PLC systems while identifying and implementing modernization opportunities.</li>\n <li>Experience validating multi-layer PCB designs and ensuring third-party prototypes meet requirements before production release.</li>\n <li>Ability to interpret project requirements and develop detailed schematics for embedded controllers, power systems, and sensor interfaces.</li>\n <li>Strong troubleshooting skills using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, debuggers, and other laboratory test equipment.</li>\n <li>Experience developing update packages and deployment pipelines for both over-the-air and offline update scenarios.</li>\n <li>Solid understanding of electronics fundamentals: GPIO, PWM, UART, I2C, and SPI.</li>\n <li>Experience in integrating sensors for data acquisition and safety-control applications.</li>\n <li>Knowledge of low-power hardware design principles, power-efficient firmware development, and energy optimization techniques.</li>\n <li>Experience designing products to meet ATEX and IECEx certification requirements.</li>\n <li>Experience creating and validating complete system wiring schematics.</li>\n <li>Proficiency with GitHub, Jira, and modern development workflows.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Preferred method of application and to view all opportunities visit:</strong>&nbsp; <a href=\"https://www.nov.com/Careers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">https://www.nov.com/Careers</a></p>\n<p><strong>NOV is an Equal Opportunity Employer and Prohibits Discrimination or Harassment of Any Kind</strong>: NOV is committed to the principle of equal employment opportunities for everyone and to providing employees with a work environment free of discrimination and harassment.
