Description
SUMMARY:
The Children’s Coordinator, report s to the Project Director, Women and Children’s Services, and is responsible for the safety and care of the children belonging to the women receiving treatment at SFRC’s residential program. The Children’s Coordinator provides care, supervision, play-based education, oversight, and accountability for children staying with their mothers in the program. The Children’s Coordinator assists in preparing age-appropriate curriculums; supervises children during all program activities and arranges/serves snacks and meals. The Children’s Coordinator executes work in accordance with SFRC policies and regulations and with best practices in mind for a therapeutic childcare setting.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages staffing and coverage of childcare staff on a daily basis. Ensures appropriate training for new and veteran staff. Creates the daily program and schedules. Organizes the outings with moms and children. Oversees inventory of supplies needed for childcare, supply closet, and blue shed. Provides supplies and materials needed for the child. Supports mothers in accessing community resources for their children. Completes child intake with the mother. Participated in the weekly intake meetings anticipates new arrivals/intakes, and prepares for them. Maintains records relating to childcare and ensures that charting is complete in EHR Systems. Ensures that all incident reports are completed and properly addressed with documented solutions in the child’s file and in the EHR system. Maintains ongoing communication with med techs, counselors, case managers, and providers. Maintains staff files. Completes assigned duties related to the NM childcare licensing process. Establishes weekly lesson plans and Shares with moms the plans and how they support their child’s development. Supports mothers with child development questions, behavioral needs, etc. Provide toys for mothers and children to use in the residential area and oversees inventory. Ensures that ASQ’s (Ages & Stages Questionnaires) are completed the data is captured Creates and maintains a child-friendly and safe environment. Engages with the child in therapeutic activities. Monitors children’s behavior, noting signs of stress and special needs. Documents observations and communicates these observations with staff as needed. Advocates for the children’s needs within the program and communicates children’s needs to the appropriate staff members. In coordination with the medical team, support mothers with referrals to agencies and providers that assist with birthing plans. (prenatal classes, doula services, etc) Collaborates with the case managers on child-specific discharge follow-up plans i.e. childcare subsidy, Head Start, WIC, early intervention, home visiting, safe sleep, etc. Connects mothers to community resources for diapers, clothing, etc. Assists in Completing a 30-day follow-up to see if mom has engaged with child-related services. Participates in discharge meetings with appropriate agencies (CYFD, Early intervention, home visiting, etc. Collect client-related data for children in the program (ASQ’s, PICCOLOs, nutrition, and community referrals) for the grant at specified times and submits data into SFRC data tracing spreadsheet and collaborate with Data Coordinator and Project Evaluator to ensure proper reporting. Creates relationships with community family resource providers and shares this information with Case Managers and Child Care staff. Works in conjunction with Contractors to improve child care and programming. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
