Description

SUMMARY: Integrated Studies at Gwynedd Mercy University is a fully inclusive, residential higher education initiative (non-degree certificate program) for students (18-26) with intellectual disabilities. Integrated Studies supports students in pursuing competitive, community-based employment in an area of interest, building increased independence and life-long learning using individualized, person-centered planning and based on social-role valorization theory and the culturally valued analogue. Funded in part by the Department of Education’s TPSID grant program Integrated Studies is one of six model programs in Pennsylvania to receive funding of this type during the 2020-2025 grant cycle. Reporting to the Director of Integrated Studies the Coordinator of Campus Support will manage the peer mentoring program for Integrated Studies as well as connecting with outside stakeholders with an interest in the program such as students, parents, teachers and transition coordinators. This is a part time 20 hour/week position. Some evenings and weekends may be required, some off campus travel may be required, weekly schedules can be flexible with one remote day per week. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Supervision of the peer mentor program: Mentor Coordinator will recruit, interview and hire peer mentors (25-40 per semester), through collaboration with the Federal Work Study and Student Employment offices and in accordance with hiring policies Mentor Coordinator will create, schedule and lead new-mentor and mid- semester training based on best practices and needs of the group. Mentor Coordinator will create the schedule for mentors in accordance to Integrated Studies student need, mentor availability, and effective matching of student/mentor. Mentor Coordinator will approve bi-weekly hours for all mentors Mentor Coordinator will ensure collection of session data by mentors for the purpose of advising Mentor Coordinator will supervise all peer mentors, lead mentors, and interns Campus/Program Engagement: Connect with local High School Transition Teachers and Transition Coordinators to raise awareness of IPSE in general and our program specifically Engage with prospective students/families and provide information sessions, tours and open houses (in conjunction with admissions) Support Assistant Director in representing Integrated Studies at Transition Fairs Lead 1 skill-based group/month for Integrated Studies students & peer mentors Meet with each Integrated Studies student once/month to work on individualized goal activities and make progress toward program and personal outcomes Support the admissions process by attending interviews & provide feedback to determine admissions decisions QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
