Description
We are seeking an energetic Facility Operations Supervisor to lead our production driven safety conscious team in Chicago, IL. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, front-line leadership and supervision of plant operations, including shipping, receiving, and blending. Coordinate the offload and perform the offloading of tankers of high temp asphalt into rail cars. Oversight of a team of 2-3 technician-level employees. Work with the transportation team and the East Chicago facility to ensure effective planning of inbound loaded tankers to ensure refinery operations are not interrupted. Rail and Tanker knowledge dealing with liquids is a must!
Shift: 1st 7am-5pm
Pay: $80-$85K

Responsibilities
Performs supervision of daily truck to rail transloading operation hot asphault products.
Supervises and mentors’ employees in handling hot material that can lead to potential employee burn hazards.
Training and development of new hires.
Following up to ensure they are trained properly and signed off
Able to review all applicable standard operating procedures (SOP’s) annually and score satisfactorily on quizzes.
Acts as the recognized subject matter expert in their area(s) of responsibility.
Ensures that employees follow and maintain all applicable Health and Safety rules, Standard Operating Procedures, and all other site-specific policies and procedures and holds employees accountable when they do not.
Ensures that supervised operations/ employees understand and have ownership for area specific permit required compliance standards.
Works under the direction of the Facilities Operations Manager or equivalent.
Responsible for maintaining a clean work environment in their areas of responsibility.
Qualifications
High School or equivalent
3+ years supervisory type experience in an industrial environment (Petro-Chemical exp is a plus!)
Experience managing larger teams preferred
Strong leadership skills
Experience writing HOTWORK permits is a plus!
Rail and Tanker knowledge dealing with liquids is a must!
Ability to streamline and improve processes
Must work well under pressure and pivot as needed
Excellent communication skills written and verbal
Strong documentation and organizational skills
Computer literate
Proficient MS Office Suite – Word, Excel and Outlook
Proven problem solver
Change management expérience a plus !
Excellent organizational skills.
Able to review all applicable standard operating procedures (SOP’s) annually and score satisfactorily on quizzes.
Proficiency in Windows based applications.
Knowledge of scanning applications, EOM scanning SOP’s, VPI / Pick sheets
Proficiency in multiple site-specific plant operations. It is not a desk job on the floor with the guys.
