Description
Transition & Employment Specialist About the Role The Transition & Employment Specialist delivers direct services to youth and adults throughout all phases of employment and the transition-to-adulthood process. This includes assessment, job readiness training, job development, Pre-ETS services, life skills education, documentation, and ongoing employment support. The role requires strong collaboration across schools, families, agencies, and business partners. Some evening or weekend flexibility may be required based on client needs.
Part time role, up to 19 hours a week.
Qualifications Prior teaching/education experience highly preferred. Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred. One year of experience supporting individuals with disabilities preferred. CESP certification preferred (or willingness to obtain with agency support). Experience with OOD, vocational rehabilitation, and employer partnerships preferred. Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and the ability to transport clients required (mileage reimbursed). Strong skills in communication, organization, crisis intervention, and managing multiple priorities. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Windows environments. Key Responsibilities - Direct Client Service Provide one-on-one career exploration, job development, resume support, individualized job searches, job/task analysis, and job coaching. Deliver life-skills training in areas such as financial literacy, wellness, and post-secondary planning. Place individuals with employment barriers into competitive employment using evidence-based supported employment practices. Implement employment goals based on the Individual Plan for Employment (IPE). Transport and actively supervise clients as needed. Support transition-aged youth through assessments, service planning, and connection to community resources. - Internal & External Collaboration Build and maintain strong relationships with community providers, schools, funders, and business partners. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support client goals. Represent the agency professionally within the community. Support the coordination and implementation of transition activities in school settings. Market vocational programs and maintain employer partnerships. - Quality Assurance & Effectiveness Ensure compliance with OOD, CARF, and other regulatory standards. Participate in professional development to enhance skills and maintain certifications (e.g., CESP). Utilize and evaluate research-based curriculum and assessments. Contribute to continuous quality improvement processes. - Administration & Fiscal Responsibility Meet or exceed productivity expectations. Oversee billing processes for funding sources including OOD and JFS. Maintain organized, confidential documentation and timely submission of required paperwork. Ensure grant/contract compliance and communication with finance as needed. - Other duties as assigned
Work Environment:
Exposed to a combination of office, school, public meeting places, and mental health treatment environments. Exposed to children with behavior problems. May be exposed to shouting and clients who may be verbally and physically aggressive. May be exposed to blood or vomit and bodily fluids.
