    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p>In this role you will perform inspections, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of low and medium voltage electrical distribution equipment, including breakers, transformers, switches, switchgear, relays, and motor control centers, as well as other electrical apparatus both in the field and in a shop environment. An understanding of electrical distribution systems as well as the use of electrical test equipment is required. You will contribute to a safe working environment for co-workers and customers and help ensure the overall success of projects. This position is primarily based at the Blue Plains facility in Washington DC, but some local travel may be required.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p>Provides electrical, high-voltage (HV) and substation testing, installation, maintenance and repair on electrical equipment and systems and power distribution systems. Work tasks involve testing, troubleshooting, repair, overhaul, modification, and general maintenance of complex alternating/direct current (AC/DC) electrical and electronic equipment such as motors, transformers, generators, relays, switching and control panel, voltage regulators, generator and substation batteries.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Performs substation inspections in accordance with applicable compliance regulations.</li>\n <li>Performs preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance tasks for electrical equipment and electronic controls and systems.</li>\n <li>Performs troubleshooting and testing of electrical equipment, circuit breakers and systems in accordance with applicable procedures and guidelines.</li>\n <li>Operates electrical power distribution systems up to and including 69 KV classification.</li>\n <li>Takes infrared images to identify various mechanical and electrical problems.</li>\n <li>Maintains equipment and tools utilized to test, repair, install, and replace equipment.</li>\n <li>Performs work involving the installation of complex electrical and electronic systems on systems up to and including 69KV volt classification.</li>\n <li>Utilizes personal protective equipment (PPE) for electrical and other hazards within the work environment.</li>\n <li>Coordinates and implements Lock-Out-Tag-Out, Arc Flash and confined space entry protocols related to maintenance of electrical systems and equipment for Operations and other Trades/Skill Crafts.</li>\n <li>Coordinates and performs maintenance tasks within mixed craft/trade work assignments.                   </li>\n <li>Performs maintenance related housekeeping duties as required in the repair and maintenance of electrical equipment and systems.</li>\n <li>Utilizes MAXIMO Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to review assignments and document work completed in the maintenance of electrical equipment and systems.</li>\n <li>Performs safely switching and grounding of related components.</li>\n <li>Complies with rules and regulations related to safety and other work-related policies and procedures of the company, OSHA, NFPA, and NEC.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p>The minimum qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability necessary for an individual to perform each essential function satisfactorily.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate and 7+ years of progressive experience OR associate's degree in industrial electrical related field and five (5) years of progressive experience directly associated with installing, repairing and maintaining electrical and electronic components of machinery, equipment and systems.</li>\n <li>Must possess or acquire within 12 months from date of hire and maintain current, Inter-National Electrical Testing Association (NETA), AVO Training Institute, National Institute of Certification of Engineering Technologies (NICET) or equivalent certification in substation testing and maintenance.</li>\n <li>Must possess and maintain current a valid Motor Vehicle Operating License.</li>\n <li>Comprehensive knowledge of electrical and electronic principles related to complex multi-component assembles and devices.</li>\n <li>Demonstrates ability to use electrical and electronic test equipment to diagnose and correct equipment and control system problems.</li>\n <li>Ability to use hand and power tools, rigging and lifting equipment.</li>\n <li>Knowledge, skills, and abilities to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics and blueprints.</li>\n <li>Comprehensive knowledge of pertinent guidelines, rules, and regulations of NFPA and National Electric Code, and OSHA.</li>\n <li>Good oral and written communication skills and abilities. Candidates must demonstrate physical strength and stamina to perform various tasks, including but not limited to, loading, and unloading, operating equipment, and assisting in the transportation of various materials. Proper lifting techniques and safety protocols must be followed to ensure personal and team safety.</li>\n <li>Relocates a 12-foot stepladder without assistance.</li>\n <li>Works at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks and all types of ladders.</li>\n <li>Walks, climbs, lifts, squats, crawls, kneels, pushes, pulls and reaches overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.</li>\n <li>Possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English.</li>\n <li>May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools.</li>\n <li>Tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.
