    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p>The Assistant or Associate Professor plays a pivotal role in the upcoming Master of Science Program in Teaching Students with Disabilities (All Grades). Working closely with the Program Chair, the individual is responsible for designing and teaching program courses focused on PreK-12 teaching students with disabilities, and ensuring overall program effectiveness. In addition to teaching responsibilities, the professor advises and supervises master's degree candidates, actively participates in faculty collaborative professional learning, GSE committees, and demonstrates scholarly productivity in the field of teaching students with disabilities.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Designs, revises, and teaches graduate courses in teaching students with disabilities (All grade bands)</li>\n <li>Maintains current knowledge of early childhood, childhood education, middle, and high school curricula (NYSED/NYCPS and other), including literacy and mathematics</li>\n <li>Experience with assessment and effective teaching methodologies for students with special needs, utilizing a variety of instructional delivery methods, instructional and assistive technologies, and educational resources for educational equity and access</li>\n <li>Supports the candidate's work related to the intersection of multilingualism and special education</li>\n <li>Supervises and provides effective feedback to candidates during clinical practice</li>\n <li>Serves as an instructional leader, facilitating and participating with collaborative faculty teams, course revisions, and developing and sustaining transformative pedagogy in graduate teaching and learning, whether online or in-person</li>\n <li>Contributes to clinical partnerships with schools and mentors in PreK-12 Teaching Students with Disabilities, and to the development of a clinically rich teacher preparation program</li>\n <li>Provides academic advisement to program candidates and outreach to potential candidates</li>\n <li>Maintains a current record of scholarly activities and publications, as well as professional service</li>\n <li>Serves on Graduate School of Education committees</li>\n <li>Supports and contributes to program-level continuous improvement for national/professional accreditation</li>\n <li>Engages in successful grant writing</li>\n <li>Upholds the missions and values of Touro University and the Graduate School of Education in both online and in-person contexts</li>\n <li>Attends three in-person faculty retreats per academic year in September, January, and June, as well as any other meetings organized by the GSE and Touro University</li>\n <li>Performs other duties as assigned, which may include both online and in-person responsibilities</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<h4>Education/Experience</h4>\n<ul>\n <li><strong>REQUIREMENTS:</strong>\n  <ul>\n   <li>Earned doctorate in special education or related field; ABD with anticipated conferral date within one year of hire considered</li>\n   <li>Successful PreK-12 teaching students with disabilities, with classroom teaching experience of three or more years, working with students who have individual education programs, and with diverse students</li>\n   <li>Successful experience in assessment and data use in the PreK-12 teaching of students with disabilities in the classroom, with evidence of positive learning and development for diverse groups of students</li>\n   <li>Experience using Canvas and other technology in educational settings to support effective teaching and learning in educational settings</li>\n   <li>Experience using Canvas or other learning management systems, along with a range of instructional technologies to support effective teaching and learning in educational settings</li>\n   <li>Experience in course and program design</li>\n   <li>Commitment to culturally responsive and sustaining pedagogy</li>\n   <li>Demonstrated ability for scholarly productivity</li>\n  </ul></li>\n <li><strong>Desired Qualifications:</strong>\n  <ul>\n   <li>Knowledge of school and community-based programs and experience building partnerships in diverse communities is highly desirable</li>\n   <li>Evidence of success as an educator preparer at the college or university level in traditional classrooms and online</li>\n   <li>Experience using Canvas and other technology in educational settings</li>\n   <li>Active involvement in professional organizations</li>\n   <li>Successful grant writing</li>\n   <li>Expertise in urban education</li>\n   <li>Experience with students with multiple special needs</li>\n  </ul></li>\n</ul>\n<h4>Knowledge/Skills/Abilities</h4>\n<ul>\n <li>Excellent communication, teaching, and interpersonal/intercultural skills across a wide range of mediums (including social media)</li>\n <li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook</li>\n <li>Proficiency in online learning platforms, including Canvas, Adobe Connect, Zoom, Play Posit, Yuja, and other digital media</li>\n</ul>\n<h4>Travel</h4>\n<ul>\n <li>Some travel to Touro University GSE sites in New York City, including occasional evenings</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Maximum Salary</h2>USD $84,048.00/Yr.\n<h2>Minimum Salary</h2>USD $67,238.00/Yr.",
