Description
The Volunteer Services Coordinator is responsible for a variety of duties related to the Patient Experience Volunteer Services Program for the Baton Rouge Market including but not limited to volunteer recruitment, screening, placement, orientation, training, evaluation, recognition, scheduling and tracking of hours for Patient Experience Volunteer Programs. This oversight does not include observers, research externs, or pastoral care volunteers. This role provides guidance, support, resources, and tools to supervised volunteers. Relies on education, experience, professional training, and judgment to accomplish responsibilities. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
Responsibilities
1. Develop, promote and manage Patient Experience Volunteers in the BR Market
a. Annual and ongoing organizational needs assessment for volunteer services opportunities.
b. Develop and maintain Volunteer Program policies, procedures and service standards.
c. Maintain volunteer descriptions for all volunteer assignments.
d. Ensure adequate staffing of volunteers in identified areas to support organizational operations.
e. Recommend the most efficient use of volunteers, appropriate volunteer/staff mix, and future work force needs.
f. Maintain accurate records and provides timely statistical and activity reports on volunteers.
g. Evaluate all aspects of Volunteer Services Program to ensure effectiveness and to recommend/implement changes as appropriate.
h. Appropriate and timely escalation of issues and barriers that affect the management of the Volunteer Program to the Director Patient Experience for the BR Market
2. Recruit, orient, place and train qualified volunteers for the organization.
a. Develop and maintain an effective recruitment plan including, but not limited to, hosting and attending recruiting events, developing community relationships and working with professional associations to attract qualified candidates into the Volunteer Program.
b. Conduct orientation and training according to organizational standards and applicable local, state federal and regulatory guidelines.
c. Coordinate all Patient Experience Volunteer assignment opportunities and schedules.
3. Provide ongoing support and guidance to volunteers.
a. Act as single point of communication for Patient Experience volunteers.
b. Resolve grievances and promote cooperation for volunteers and the organization as it relates to the Volunteer Program.
c. Create and distribute regular communication to volunteers.
d. Coordinate and participate in volunteer recognition programs and special events.
4. Other duties as assigned
a. Other duties as assigned are completed.
b. Actively participates on committees as assigned to enhance Volunteer Program. Consistently performs 12 organizational Service Standards focused on Values, Service, and Quality.
Qualifications
Minimum Years of Experience: 3 years of management
Minimum Required Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
