Due to Devereux Georgia's history of success in treating victimized individuals, the state has chosen to use Devereux for their newly approved treatment program. The 24-bed program is a Child Caring Institution (Group Home) for victimized youths between the ages of 12 and 17. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Job Summary:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Instructs assigned clients through development of a structured classroom environment that will promote intellectual, emotional and social growth.  </li>\n <li>Plans and implements instructional programs for clients with emotional and behavioral disorders.</li>\n <li>Plan and implement educational instruction and services in accordance with GA Dept of Education and as required by each student's Individual Education Program (IEP)</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Devereux Ackerman Academy – Gwinnett follow the district and state curriculum. Teachers have access to Gwinnett County Public School’s platform.</li>\n <li>Number of students in class are based on Census. The facility has a capacity of 24 and students are grouped as described above. Currently, there are 17 students distributed between 2 class rotations.</li>\n <li>We follow Gwinnett County curriculum and Georgia Standards of Excellence which are grade and subject specific. </li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Modified School Schedule:</strong></p>\n<p>Teachers follow a modified district calendar. Our teachers work additional days during Fall and Winter Breaks, as well as 15 days during May/June for Summer Enrichment. One note of difference is during inclement weather, our staff are expected to report to work (keeping in mind safety), while some districts may have either Virtual Learning or School Closure. These are a few of the nuances of being a certified teacher for Devereux. We hope this information is helpful.
