Description
Job Summary:
The AI Engineer will support the International Trade Administration (ITA) AI Center of Excellence (AI-CoE) by delivering end-to-end artificial intelligence solutions across the full system lifecycle. This role focuses on model development, data handling, deployment, optimization, and integration of AI capabilities within secure, cloud-based federal IT environments.
*This position is contingent upon contract award.*
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Design, develop, test, and deploy AI and machine learning models.
Manage data ingestion, preprocessing, validation, and feature engineering.
Build, deploy, and maintain AI infrastructure and pipelines.
Optimize model performance, scalability, and reliability.
Automate workflows and integrate AI solutions with enterprise systems.
Monitor models in production and implement continuous improvements.
Collaborate with product owners, developers, and data teams in SAFe Agile environments.
Ensure solutions align with federal security, compliance, and governance requirements.
Maintain technical documentation and operational runbooks.
Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements (Education/Skills/Experience):
U.S. Citizenship (required). Ability to obtain and maintain a NACI or higher background investigation.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Minimum 2 years experience
Experience across the AI system lifecycle including development and deployment.
Proficiency with machine learning frameworks and programming languages.
Experience working in Agile or SAFe delivery environments.
Desired Qualifications:
Master’s degree in a technical field.
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
Familiarity with MLOps, CI/CD pipelines, and automation tools.
Experience supporting federal or public-sector IT programs.
Knowledge of AI governance, ethics, and security best practices.
Work Location: Remote preferred with occasional on-site support in Washington, DC, as required.
