The Mechanical Systems Engineer Lead will be operating and maintaining the critical infrastructure that makes groundbreaking ground testing possible. You will command a diverse array of powerful systems—from massive electric motors and compressors to sophisticated control and data acquisition technologies. While we don't design vehicles, we create the extreme conditions they must endure. Your work is essential to providing our customers with the vital data they need to validate design and ensure flightworthiness for the next generation of aerospace systems.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong><em>Open to internal candidates. </em></strong></p>\n<p><strong><em> </em></strong></p>\n<p><strong>Job Summary</strong></p>\n<p>The successful candidate for a Mechanical Systems Engineer Lead role will be able to work independently, solve complex technical problems with minimal supervision, effectively lead others as a work performer and a coach, and place emphasis on rapid continual professional development of engineers to handle a breadth of tasks for plant operations. The candidate should demonstrate the ability to work effectively with others and manage multiple projects simultaneously, effectively plan, organize, and direct the work of teams consisting of multiple stakeholders to conduct comprehensive verification efforts and successfully execute problem resolution when required.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>It is expected that a Mechanical Systems Engineer Lead will maintain the skills required to perform the general job duties of a Mechanical Systems Engineer in maintaining and sustaining plant equipment.</p>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p><strong>Job Duties:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Systems Engineering & Execution\n  <ul>\n   <li>Act at the Lead Systems Engineer for mechanical plant equipment, directing planning and execution activities (estimates, hazard analysis, support SOC development, plant for future issues/foresee problems and resolve) for plant equipment. Ensure SSHA’s, work instructions, and configuration management remain current while supporting individual technical tasks.</li>\n  </ul></li>\n <li>Team Coordination & Mentoring\n  <ul>\n   <li>Oversee daily assignments for engineering personnel and allocate staff for systems coverage ensuring systems are ready for reliable operation to support testing. Serve as technical mentor, support crew training, and provide constructive input for team performance reviews.</li>\n  </ul></li>\n <li>Operations & Project Tracking\n  <ul>\n   <li>Monitor task performance across technical, schedule, and cost metrics. Assist with labor forecasting, provide status briefings to management, and perform basic administrative duties as requested. </li>\n  </ul></li>\n <li>Stakeholder Collaboration\n  <ul>\n   <li>Interface with AF customer, cross-disciplinary teams (Electrical Systems Lead, ID&C Lead, Staff Engineers, Senior Staff Engineers, Engineering Advisory Board, etc), and management to translate customer requirements into successful solutions.
