This platform connects providers, patients, payers, pharmacies, and pharmaceutical companies in real time. It runs cloud native on AWS, processes millions of clinical transactions, and supports the medication journey for 100 million patients each year.</p>\n<p>You will design Java microservices, build event driven workflows on Kafka, and ship integrations to a huge variety of health IT systems. You will work alongside other engineers, product managers, and clinical informaticists who care about quality, observability, and the patient on the other side of the prescription.</p>\n<p>DrFirst runs on AI. Claude is our internal enterprise AI platform and your daily working partner. You will pair with Claude on architecture, code review, debugging, test generation, and documentation. Fluency with AI assisted development is a job requirement, not a bonus.</p>\n<h2>Who Will Love This Job</h2>\n<ul>\n <li><strong>A builder. </strong>You design and ship cloud native microservices that scale, fail gracefully, and self heal.</li>\n <li><strong>A problem solver. </strong>You enjoy chasing performance bottlenecks across distributed systems and fixing root causes.</li>\n <li><strong>A collaborator. </strong>You work across product, DevOps, and clinical teams to ship integrated solutions.</li>\n <li><strong>A craftsperson. </strong>You care about code quality, secure coding, and lifting up the engineers around you.</li>\n <li><strong>An AI native engineer. </strong>You write code with Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, or equivalent every day and treat AI as a force multiplier.</li>\n <li><strong>A learner. </strong>You stay current with the platform, the language, and the field.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>What you will work on</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Design, build, test, and deploy high quality Java services that power real time clinical workflows</li>\n <li>Build cloud native microservices on AWS with auto scaling, fault tolerance, and self healing built in</li>\n <li>Develop and maintain EHR integrations across Epic, Oracle Health, Athena One, Greenway, AdvancedMD, eMDs, and ModMed using HL7, FHIR, NCPDP SCRIPT, REST, and Mirth Connect</li>\n <li>Build event driven architectures on Kafka for reliable, high throughput inter service communication</li>\n <li>Partner with DevOps on CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployment workflows</li>\n <li>Build AI powered automation frameworks that accelerate development cycles and regression testing</li>\n <li>Use Claude and other AI tools daily for code generation, refactoring, test coverage, and documentation</li>\n <li>Monitor, diagnose, and resolve production performance issues using observability tools and logs</li>\n <li>Apply and enforce secure coding practices and participate in security audits and reviews</li>\n <li>Review code, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to architecture decisions</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>Required</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline</li>\n <li>3+ years of hands on Java development with deep knowledge of object oriented design and the Spring ecosystem (Spring Boot, Spring Cloud)</li>\n <li>3+ years building cloud native applications on AWS with services like S3, Lambda, RDS, EKS or ECS, and ElastiCache or Valkey</li>\n <li>3+ years with distributed messaging systems such as Apache Kafka and a solid grasp of event streaming</li>\n <li>Proven experience building and integrating large scale, high throughput, distributed systems</li>\n <li>Proficiency with RESTful APIs, JSON, and XML</li>\n <li>Strong relational and NoSQL database experience including schema design, performance tuning, and query optimization</li>\n <li>Hands on CI/CD experience with GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar</li>\n <li>Working knowledge of application and data security including authentication, authorization, and data protection</li>\n <li>Active daily use of AI coding assistants such as Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, or Cursor in your current development workflow</li>\n <li>Self motivated and effective in a fast paced, agile environment</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Preferred</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Experience with mission critical systems in finance, brokerage, trading, or payments where low latency and high availability are required</li>\n <li>Familiarity with front end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)</li>\n <li>Healthcare integration experience with HL7, FHIR, or NCPDP SCRIPT</li>\n <li>Prior EHR integration work</li>\n <li>Experience building agentic workflows or AI integrated developer tooling</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Physical Requirements</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>90% Desk work</li>\n <li>10% Remote travel to client sites, conferences, or internal team meetings</li>\n</ul>\n<p>#LI-GF1 #LI-Remote</p>\n<h2>Benefits</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Competitive compensation, with a base salary of $110,000 -
