Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto’s subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster and easier. Our team is highly collaborative, and much of our work benefits from in‑person co‑creation, relationship‑building, and hands‑on partnership with leaders across the organization.&nbsp;</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div><strong>What will I be doing?</strong><br>&nbsp;</div><div><ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\"><li><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Lead the planning and delivery of GO Bus service modifications required for Major Track Closures (MTCs), construction impacts, and major events.</span></li><li><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Develop replacement bus schedules, crew assignments, and vehicle plans to support safe, reliable, and efficient service delivery.</span></li><li><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Coordinate operational service plans with Rail Operations, Bus Operations, municipalities, and external transit agencies.</span></li><li><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Manage driver and fleet resource requirements to support planned and unplanned service changes.</span></li><li><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Monitor ridership, service performance, and operational impacts to recommend service adjustments and improvements.</span></li><li><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Support the development of contingency plans for rail disruptions, emergencies, and special event operations.</span></li><li><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Ensure effective utilisation of drivers, buses, and infrastructure while meeting customer service and budget objectives.</span></li><li><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Prepare operational analysis, resource requirements, and service recommendations for senior leadership and key stakeholders.</span><br>&nbsp;</li></ul></div><div><strong>What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?</strong></div><div>&nbsp;</div><div><ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\"><li><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Knowledge of transportation and/or planning normally attained through completion of a 3-year community college program in Transportation Planning; or any combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent.</span></li><li><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Demonstrated 5 years of progressively responsible experience in the transportation / transit field, with demonstrated project management and technical analysis skills, which include: o Strong analytical, oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.</span></li><li><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Ability to work as a team member and provide team leadership.</span></li><li><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Ability to work independently along with good organizational skills.</span></li><li><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Knowledge of the theory, principles and practices of transit planning and service delivery is essential.</span></li><li><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Ability to integrate transit planning with corporate objectives, market research, and other transportation / land use planning.</span></li><li><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Experience with computerized transit scheduling software.</span></li><li><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Experience with HASTUS scheduling modules would be an asset</span></li><li><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Excellent analytical skills to manage planned service and to organize workforce and equipment.&nbsp;</span></li><li><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Ability to deal with employees in a unionized environment.&nbsp;</span></li><li><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Sound working knowledge of collective agreements and the bargaining process.&nbsp;</span></li><li><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Ability to project and substantiate the impact of service level changes on workforce, budget, and the availability of equipment.</span></li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p></div><div><strong>Don’t Meet Every Requirement?&nbsp;</strong></div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>If you’re excited about working with Metrolinx but your past experience doesn’t quite align with every qualification of this posting, we encourage you to apply.
