You’ll apply your front-end development expertise to build and maintain the components that power SAS’s marketing and post-purchase experiences. You’ll partner with designers, the Developer Lead, and cross-functional teams to implement accessible, performant components based on design specifications, working within an established design system while contributing to its evolution. You’ll have the opportunity to impact how customers experience SAS digital properties at global scale.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>As a Sr. Associate Software Developer, Design Systems, you will: </strong>  </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Develop front-end components based on design specifications, ensuring implementations match design intent and meet quality, performance, and accessibility standards.</li>\n <li>Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following established patterns, conventions, and best practices for the component library.</li>\n <li>Implement responsive, accessible components that meet WCAG compliance standards and work seamlessly across browsers, devices, and assistive technologies.</li>\n <li>Collaborate with designers to refine component specifications, provide technical feasibility input, and ensure smooth design-to-development handoff.</li>\n <li>Participate in code reviews, providing and receiving constructive feedback to maintain code quality and share knowledge across the team.</li>\n <li>Write unit tests, integration tests, and accessibility tests to ensure component reliability and prevent regressions.</li>\n <li>Contribute to component documentation in Storybook, including usage guidelines, prop specifications, and interactive examples.</li>\n <li>Consume and extend Filament design tokens and foundational components, ensuring consistency with the broader design system.</li>\n <li>Participate in sprint planning, estimation, and retrospectives.</li>\n <li>Be encouraged to participate in open-source projects on behalf of SAS. </li>\n <li>Ensure all applicable security policies and processes are followed to support the organization’s secure software development goals. </li>\n <li>Embrace curiosity, passion, authenticity and accountability. These are our values and influence everything we do.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Required qualifications</strong> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent practical experience)</li>\n <li>2-3 years of front-end development experience</li>\n <li>Experience with modern front-end technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, component frameworks such as React and meta-frameworks like Next.js, and Web Components, with hands-on experience building component-based architectures</li>\n <li>Strong understanding of responsive design, CSS layout techniques, cross-browser compatibility, and accessible web development, including WCAG standards and assistive technology considerations</li>\n <li>Experience with collaborative engineering practices including Git-based version control, team-based development workflows, effective communication with designers and developers, and exposure to Agile software development practices</li>\n <li>Familiarity with emerging technologies and tooling, including the current AI and agentic AI landscape, supported by an available code portfolio, GitHub profile, or work samples demonstrating component development, responsiveness, and accessibility</li>\n <li>Equivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered in place of the above qualifications. </li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Additional competencies, knowledge and skills  </strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Evaluates alternatives and risks—Assesses options against clear decision criteria while considering implications and consequences.</li>\n <li>Takes action—Initiates action to correct quality problems or notifies others of quality issues as appropriate.</li>\n <li>Ensures high quality—Dedicates required time and energy to assignments or tasks to ensure that no aspect of the work is neglected; works to overcome obstacles to completing tasks or assignments.</li>\n <li>Experience with design systems or component library development, including familiarity with design tokens, CSS architecture patterns, theming systems, and component documentation tools such as Storybook</li>\n <li>Strong understanding of front-end architecture and development practices, including single-page and multi-page application approaches, TypeScript and type-safe development, and modern build tools and package managers</li>\n <li>Experience with quality and delivery practices, including automated testing frameworks and exposure to Agile software development methodologies</li>\n <li>Familiarity with building globally scalable front-end solutions, including internationalization and localization considerations</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>World-class benefits </strong>  </p>\n<p>Highlights include... </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Comprehensive medical, prescription, dental and vision plans.  </li>\n <li>Medical plan options include:\n  <ul>\n   <li>PPO with low annual deductible and copays.  </li>\n   <li>HDHP combined with a health savings account with a contribution from SAS (no access to on-site health care center).  </li>\n  </ul></li>\n <li>Onsite Health Care Center (HQ) that’s free to employees and family members enrolled in the PPO plan.
