In this critical role, you will lead the assembly and integration of next-generation electric aircraft systems, from avionics and interiors to complex flight controls. You will guide a team of dedicated professionals to deliver safe, quiet, and affordable aerial transportation. We are looking for a hardworking, quality-focused leader who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and is passionate about building the future of aviation.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<ul>\n <li><p>Lead and manage daily shop-floor operations to execute the aircraft build plan effectively</p></li>\n <li><p>Collaborate with the Subassembly Team Lead to synchronize delivery schedules and material flow</p></li>\n <li><p>Design, deploy, and support specialized assembly training modules for the workforce</p></li>\n <li><p>Monitor production outputs to ensure all build deadlines and project milestones are met</p></li>\n <li><p>Enforce rigorous adherence to work instructions and engineering drawings across all processes</p></li>\n <li><p>Maintain strict shop-floor standards utilizing 4S+S and Lean manufacturing methodologies</p></li>\n <li><p>Coordinate technician allocation between work streams and manage workforce qualifications</p></li>\n <li><p>Ensure leadership coverage during all build days, coordinating with the Build Manager as needed</p></li>\n <li><p>Address resource imbalances and communicate staffing needs to the Build Manager</p></li>\n <li><p>Oversee work records to ensure accuracy and run completeness</p></li>\n <li><p>Inform the 7-day support strategy and drive continuous improvement in operational efficiency</p></li>\n <li><p>Foster a culture of innovation, employee development, and effective team collaboration</p></li>\n <li><p>Commit to leading by example and maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly work area</p></li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Required</h2>\n<ul>\n <li><p>High School Diploma or GED equivalent</p></li>\n <li><p>6+ years of relevant mechanical build, assembly, or troubleshooting experience</p></li>\n <li><p>Deep understanding of mechanical assemblies, electronic wiring, motors, batteries, and systems</p></li>\n <li><p>Proficiency with common mechanical assembly tools, electrical test equipment, and troubleshooting complex systems to isolate and repair faults</p></li>\n <li><p>Ability to interpret engineering drawings/work instructions and distinguish colors</p></li>\n <li><p>Physical ability to lift 50 lbs unassisted, stoop, bend, crawl, and maneuver in tight spaces</p></li>\n <li><p>Familiarity with aircraft systems, hardware, and 14 CFR Part 21 standards</p></li>\n <li><p>Experience with process development, production process improvement (Toyota Production System/Kaizen), and OSHA safety standards</p></li>\n <li><p>Experience utilizing Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) or equivalent software</p></li>\n <li><p>Basic computer literacy, including proficiency with Windows and Microsoft Office</p></li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Desired</h2>\n<ul>\n <li><p>Prior experience as a lead, manager, or technical trainer</p></li>\n <li><p>Associate’s degree or higher in a technical field</p></li>\n <li><p>FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) and Inspection Authorization (IA) ratings</p></li>\n <li><p>Experience with composite materials and data acquisition techniques (e.g., strain gauges)</p></li>\n <li><p>Familiarity with major CAD systems, welding, or machining</p></li>\n <li><p>Automotive maintenance experience and a Pilot’s license</p></li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $39-$52/hour.
