If you're ready to make a real impact in a company that's redefining heavy industry for a cleaner, smarter world, we want to hear from you.
What you will do:
Electra is seeking a highly skilled, safety-focused Electrical & Instrumentation Technician to support installation, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of industrial electrical, instrumentation, and control systems across its production facility. This role is critical to ensuring safe production, reliable automation, accurate data acquisition, and operational readiness in a fast-paced startup and commissioning environment. Technicians work with minimal supervision, and senior-level individuals may mentor or train other electrical and instrumentation personnel.
Responsibilities include:
Safely perform removal, repair, installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical and instrumentation systems and components
Install, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot industrial instrumentation, including flow meters, sensors, transmitters, analyzers, transducers, and weigh scales
Perform advanced electrical and control system troubleshooting, failure analysis, and root-cause investigations to minimize downtime
Execute loop checks, signal testing, I/O checkout, and system diagnostics during commissioning, startup, and maintenance activities
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on substations, power distribution systems, switchgear, MCCs, motors, motor controls, and AC/DC drives
Install, configure, commission, troubleshoot, and replace Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
Install, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot industrial rectifier systems, including DC power distribution, cooling systems, interlocks, controls, and protective devices
Diagnose rectifier-related faults such as abnormal voltage/current conditions, grounding issues, cooling failures, and control faults
Support commissioning, startup, shutdown, and operational troubleshooting of rectifier systems
Assist with configuration and limited programming support of PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and DCS platforms
Maintain accurate documentation, including calibration records, wiring diagrams, loop drawings, rectifier settings, and as-built updates
Follow all SOPs, lockout/tagout procedures, and electrical safety requirements
Participate in safety, environmental, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement programs
Mentor or train junior electrical and instrumentation employees as assigned
What we need you to bring to the team:
High school degree or equivalent
8+ years of industrial electrical/fixed plant electrician experience; OR completion of a Certified Electronics, Electrical, or Instrumentation (typically 4-year program) and four (4) years of industrial electrical and/or instrumentation experience; OR an associate degree or trade certification with six (6) years of relevant experience
The ability to read P&IDs, schematics, and technical manuals is required
Advanced ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical, instrumentation, and control system issues, including root cause analysis and non-routine problem solving
Strong working knowledge of industrial power distribution systems, motor controls, VFDs, instrumentation, and process control systems
Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, loop diagrams, and technical manuals to execute work and diagnose issues effectively
Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision, determine appropriate methods for new assignments, and provide guidance or mentorship to junior team members
Experience with VFDs, PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, rectifiers, and AC/DC control systems
Experience with 480-volt motor control switchgear and controls
What we want you to bring to the team:
Experience medium-voltage equipment
Experience working in chemical or metallurgical processing environments.
