Description

Want an engineering job that gets you out of the office and into the field? Looking to be a part of transportation projects through design and construction? And do it somewhere you can enjoy lake views, mountain trails, and skiing nearby? If that sounds like a good fit, keep reading. The Opportunity: Keller Associates is hiring an early-career EI Transportation Engineer to join our team in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. You’ll work on infrastructure projects across the Northwest, supporting every phase from planning and design through construction. This role offers the opportunity to take on meaningful responsibility from day one—working directly in the field, collaborating with contractors and clients, and contributing to the successful delivery of critical infrastructure projects. Along the way, you’ll build technical skills, field experience, and grow your professional confidence. Your work will help improve transportation systems that communities in the Northwest depend on every day—and make a lasting impact close to home. What makes this a different type of engineering role: Most entry-level engineering jobs focus on drafting and calculations. That work matters, but it can feel far removed from the finished project. Here, you’ll see the full lifecycle and help bring your designs to life. Contribute to planning decisions Support design development Spend time in the field with inspection teams and senior engineers Support construction engineering staff to keep construction projects moving Build real-world skills that accelerate your path to PE licensure Enjoy a role where outdoor adventure is part of your every day Enjoying a Coeur d'Alene lifestyle: What if you could wrap up your workday and head straight to the lake, trail, or slopes? In Coeur d’Alene, you can: Paddleboard or boat on the lake after work Hike, bike, or run trails just minutes from the office Ski and snowboard in the winter Explore a walkable, active downtown with restaurants, coffee shops, and local events Enjoy a family-friendly, welcoming, and vibrant community We give our all at the office, but we never lose sight of what’s important. So you can thrive both professionally and personally “You won’t just design projects—you’ll be in the field, solving problems, working with contractors, and seeing your decisions built in real time.”                                                                                                                                  -Jeff Sorenson, PE What you'll do: Work on transportation projects that communities rely on every day. Highway and roadway improvements Intersections and interchanges Bridges and transportation infrastructure Roadway drainage and stormwater systems Traffic control and construction phasing Typical responsibilities include: Supporting construction projects in the office and in the field Developing roadway alignments and intersection layouts Performing engineering analysis and design calculations Preparing plans, specifications, and cost estimates Working with multidisciplinary engineering teams What you'll bring: Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) Familiarity with AutoCAD/Civil 3D and/or MicroStation/OpenRoads (preferred, not required) Interest in civil engineering and transportation (both design and construction); design and construction experience are a plus Strong communication, organization, and attention to detail Self‑motivated, able to manage multiple priorities and deliver quality work An intentional, growth mindset What we're looking for: Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field FE exam passed or scheduled within the first year 0–4 years of experience Strong communication skills Growth mindset Support for the long haul: We invest in engineers who want to grow here. Health & Financial Security Medical, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) with company match Salary Advantage Program Short- and long-term disability and company-paid life insurance Year-end bonus program Flexibility & Time Off Paid time off + PTO sell-back option Paid holidays and parental leave Growth & Perks Tuition reimbursement Flexible spending and health savings accounts Employee assistance program Costco membership Paid day of community service Ready to start building projects that matter?
