If you answered yes to any of the questions above, we invite you to read the details below and apply to this exciting career opportunity and Humber River Health.  </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Employment Status:</strong> Part-time <strong>Hours of Work: </strong>Must be available for all rotating shifts including alternating weekends  - subject to change as per Article 3 – Management Rights.</p>\n<p><strong>Location:</strong> Hennick Humber Hospital, Wilson Site <strong>Labour Group: </strong>NOWU<strong>Reporting Relationship: </strong>Manager, Acute Environmental & Linen Services<strong>Hourly Rate: </strong>$27.758 - $28.306</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Position Responsibilities:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Clean, maintain, dust, and damp mop all assigned areas</li>\n <li>Dust, wash, and polish furniture and fixtures</li>\n <li>Clean and vacuum carpets where applicable</li>\n <li>Gather and dispose of garbage and linen</li>\n <li>Clean isolation rooms, broken glass and dispose of body fluids</li>\n <li>Clean stretchers, S/L and wheelchairs</li>\n <li>Perform any tasks similar to the above that is determined to be necessary to the functioning of the Hospital</li>\n <li>Understand and comply with Hospital and Departmental Policies and Procedures</li>\n <li>Seek clarification when unsure of a policy, a procedure or an assignment</li>\n <li>Follow departmental procedure for signing in & out for the beginning and end of shift via computer</li>\n <li>Pick up PDA at beginning of shift and return at end of shift</li>\n <li>Working alone in isolated areas</li>\n <li>Participate with the orientation and training of new staff members</li>\n <li>Responsible for identifying own educational needs and communicating them to Management</li>\n <li>Actively participate in training sessions, meetings or special projects as required</li>\n <li>Participate in quality control checks as required</li>\n <li>Uses equipment and supplies in an efficient and appropriate manner</li>\n <li>Maintain an awareness of department and hospital Quality Assurance and Continuous Quality Improvement activities, policies and procedures</li>\n <li>Demonstrate understanding of WHMIS, Disaster, Fire, Search, Bomb-Threat and other emergency procedures</li>\n <li>Practices good safety habits including wearing/using any required protective clothing or equipment.  Reports promptly any accident or incident and co-operates fully in any investigation</li>\n <li>All employees of HRH share a common responsibility to act in accordance with the commitment to safe and compassionate patient care and a safe and healthy work environment</li>\n <li>Work in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the regulations including but not limited to: use or wear of equipment or protective devices or clothing for safety purposes, report to their manager any contravention of this Act or regulations or the existence of any hazards of which he or she knows</li>\n <li>Have knowledge and understanding of the Internal Responsibility System (IRS) in relation to the Occupational Health and Safety Act and attend all required Health and Safety training. </li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Qualifications:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Ontario Secondary School diploma, equivalent, or higher education required.</li>\n <li>Good command of English language essential (reading, verbal and written)</li>\n <li>Recent housekeeping experience preferred</li>\n <li>Knowledge and understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (attend training as required)</li>\n <li>Ability to perform routine duties and to transcribe requests with a high degree of accuracy, often under noisy, busy conditions and time constraints</li>\n <li>Operating heavy duty equipment ex. Buffer machinery</li>\n <li>Ability to respond to Code Whites</li>\n <li>Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 35kg’s)</li>\n <li>Ability to stand for long periods of time</li>\n <li>Must be able to perform repetitive bending & reaching</li>\n <li>Demonstrated ability to be a cooperative and team player</li>\n <li>Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills</li>\n <li>Must have a positive attitude and a genuine desire to work in fast pace environment</li>\n <li>Demonstrated problem solving and organizational skills</li>\n <li>Ability to work independently with minimal supervision or as a member of a team</li>\n <li>Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability to changing work routines or priorities</li>\n <li><p>Excellent attendance and discipline free record required.</p></li>\n <li><p>An understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion principles as they relate to health practices is an asset.
