    "description": "<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><em>About Africa Centre</em></span></p>\n<p>Council for Advancement of African Canadians in Alberta (CAAC), operating as Africa Centre, is the largest pan African non-profit organization in western Canada, serving as a community hub that provides programs and services from a place of cultural awareness and competency to the families in our diverse community. We acknowledge the diversity of our cultural background as a source of the strength that brings capacity and competencies to shape a thriving community in Alberta. We have a strong African indigenous cultural foundation incorporated across our programs and services.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><em><span style=\"font-size: 15px\">The key responsibilities of this 8 week position include activity planning and daily program activities:</span></em></span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px\"> </span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 15px\">Plan activities that enhance resilience, relationship-building, and leadership skills – 20%.</span></li>\n<li>Participate in the delivery of all programs and complete documentation/reporting as required – 60%.</li>\n<li>Supervise all activities to ensure participant's safety, including during snacks and meals – 15%.</li>\n<li>Help to maintain housekeeping standards by ensuring all program facilities are left clean before the commencement of the program and after each activity and each meal – 5%.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><em><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Eligibility </span></em></span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Candidates must be Canadian citizens, Permanent Residents, or persons to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Candidate must have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and </span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">be legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations. International students are not eligible. </span></li>\n<li>Candidates must be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment.</li>\n<li>Security Clearance Check and Child &amp; Youth Intervention Check are mandatory requirements.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><em><span style=\"font-size: 15px\">Experience</span></em></span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 15px\">The successful candidate will have previous experience with children and youth ages 6-17.</span></li>\n<li>Enthusiasm and ability to work with youth from a variety of backgrounds in a group setting.</li>\n<li>Knowledge of children’s activities and community resources in the area of academics, art and culture, health and nutrition, service and leadership, and physical activity and recreation.</li>\n<li>Communicates clearly in English, both orally and in writing (to support academic tutoring).</li>\n<li>Knowledge of French and/or other African languages is an asset.</li>\n<li>Ability to manage time effectively and be results-oriented.</li>\n<li>Capable of performing independently as well as in a team environment.</li>\n<li>Available to work shifts ranging from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM Monday through Friday daily during the employment period.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><br></span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 15px\">Closing Date: Until Suitable Candidates are Found</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 15px\">For more information about Africa Centre click <a href=\"https://africacentre.ca/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here</a></span></p>",
