Our main objective is to give students experience in a professional environment and present them with real world issues faced by organizations every day. We believe in working with our interns on a work schedule that allows them to focus on school and homework. We also believe in paying our interns competitive wages. This position will allow the aspiring engineer to gain insight to the work of customer solutions engineers. This internship will expose the team member to all levels in the organization to assist in building a resume that will allow the team member to become competitive in the job market.
Job Overview:
Join the Mercedes-Benz Vans Upfitter Team as a Research & Development Intern! By becoming a subject matter expert in different working fields of mechanical, electrical and software engineering, you will be responsible for managing detailed and accurate technical requirements for vehicle modifications (Upfitting). Your work will be part of a interdisciplinary project in between manufacturing, development, sales and after-sales. Meanwhile you will learn to technically support Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Van Upfitters in the USA and Canada (i.e. Winnebago, Airstream, etc.).
This position is supervised by a senior engineer and will report to the Head of R&D at MBV Charleston.
Responsibilities:
· Support and eventually lead the Body-and-Equipment-Guideline Update Project, implementing technical related updates for Sprinter Model Year 2027.
· Become a subject matter expert for technical van modifications performed by Van Upfitters (Camper Vans, RV’s, People Movers, Parcel delivery, etc.) in terms of technical consultation and documentation.
· Manage technical projects together with other team members across multiple teams with the mutual goal to succeed with Sprinter Van modifications in the U.S and Canada.
· Support Sprinter Van manufacturing with R&D related problem-solving tasks.
· Perform other related tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
